ALTHOUGH, what Mary did was kinda horrible I still feel bad for her. She just wanted to go live in the real world with people that loved her instead of being isolated with evil paintings and display mannequins. So I’m not surprised that she couldn’t bear to see Garry and Ib leave while she has to stay behind and become alone once again. It’s kinda like the situation I have with Ellen from, “The Witches House”. Even though Ellen did horrible things I can’t help but feel bad for her. She also just wanted to go live with loving people instead of being isolated with nothing but a demon. So, I’m not surprised that the demon was so easily able to deceive her and convince her to make a deal. She just wanted a way out of the pain, she just wanted to live. She was really only a kid. Ellen was abused mentally throughout childhood and I believe sometimes physically and then deceived by a cunning demon up until she finished off Viola. Mary has been stuck alone in the painting world for many years and just wanted to go out to the real world and be with people. Her being crazy and kind of sociopathic at times isn’t that surprising considering she’s been alone with no one to teach her right from wrong for that long. So, I can’t help but feel bad for these characters. Y’know-? It makes me happy to see Mary be with her creator in the end. Also, amazing animation.
