I have the same pups in my AS53 without the nickel cover like on the AS73. I could hear it in the video, and my personal experience is as well, they are a bit muddy, they are going towards some upgrades as well.❤😊 Thanks for the video
Aha, interesting! I didn't know the AS53 had them too. They're good pickups for sure, and nice all-rounders, but there are definitely sparklier humbuckers with more clarity out there! Thanks for watching and rock on!
@@RichWordsMusic yes they are identical except for the chrome cover. Now chrome covered SD is on the way plus coil split. Let's see how they will work. Thx again
I own an AS73 TBC and I think it’s a wonderful guitar. It looks magnificent in TBC , tobacco, and is a really great value. I wouldn’t pay the extra for the extra’s.
They are such good guitars for the price, I agree. You can cover any musical ground with them, and they feel and look great too... like you say, extras are just extras, but I don't need them either! Cheers and rock on :)
They HAD fairly distinct sounds clean & with light o/d, but once you went to high gain, they sounded pretty much the same! The AS had honkier pick ups, while the AM was a bit more flat sounding!
Yep, I totally agree! Squeeze 'em down with some dirt and they all start sounding the same at some point ;) Two great guitars though, and the cleans and light crunches are indeed fairly different. Today I'm digging the honk more, but that can change! Rock on!
Great video man !!! Im getting my last guitar this year and its gonna be one of those , am93 or as73. The as73 sounds brigther to me and the am93 sounds more bluesy. I preffer the am93.
Thanks! Hope you manage to find the one that works for you. Yes, if you prefer bluesey, and more elegant, classy tones, the AM93 is the one! The AS73 is a bit fatter, a bit rawer, a bit more rock and roll ;) Both great at their own thing!
I have a MIJ 1975 Washburn semi . A small family store that made 95% of their money from lessons had to stop lessons during early Covid and sold anything they had for months cheap to pay the lease. The guitar was new old stock that was in the store since they opened. I paid $350.00. It is near mint condition and only needed new strings but not a set up. Apparently it came out of the box on day one and the neck never moves. I do not use it a lot but such quality is irreplaceable without spending really big money. The only OD that works great with it has a similar story. It is the long defunct Boss OD-1. The lows on the pedal are weak and compliment the lows on the Semi so I never get any 'honk' from the guitar.
I've never tried any of the Larry Carlton guitars, but would love to - hopefully I can sort that out one day and then get a comparison video going. Thanks for the recommendation!
Ibanez keeps delivering so it seems. Pretty versatile as well, did not know this about this kind of guitar. Do not need a guitar but wouldn't mind owning one of these 😂
