At the time of filming the video, I was already sick with COVID. The two days after filming were terrible, high fever and all. But things are much better now. All health and all the best!
Sir,Ibanez Gio good or not for recording?if ok,i Want buy Ibanez gio for recording my song,i'm using home studio,i Want find budget guitar for recording, please give me info
i've recently tried the grg-121dx. For the money it was the most versatile and comfortable to play guitar. though the pickups are stock they are also just fine for the clean and crunch. I was impressed
A video that I really needed. The GRG lead playing on clean and dirty sounds more up front and a tad more refine in tune compared to the GRX at least for my ears .
Hi there, I can not hear difference between them on gain 😁, on clean yes, but I think for longer use and tuning stability grg121 is better option because its hardtail bridge. Awesome playing.
Ok so went through the comments and what nobody talks about is the fact that the GRX is more versatile. Why? The single coil in the middle allows you to obtain Strat sounds in positions 2 and 4 (neck+middle and bridge+middle),. These can be achieved with a clean amp and basically you have 2 guitars in one as I see it. Humbucker sounds and Strat cleans if you require - with a coil tap on the humbuckers you can achieve even more tones.
Great demo, well done, glad you're well! My first guitar was GRX70, 20 years ago, but they used lower quality pickups and tuning machines, and guitars were just black. Surprised to hear that this GRX70DX sounds fuller and richer (especially clean) than the GRG, and it looks beautiful. I believe they change the wood for the body as well, it used to be agathis, now it's poplar or basswood, not sure. Anyway I think the GRX offers more value for the money (especially more than any Bullet Strat or so), but they are both great axes.
I have both the GRX and GRG and this video is definitely helpful to know that my ears were not deceiving me. The IBZ pickups have a bit less gain to them, but they play much cleaner than the pickups on the GRX model. Both are good sounding axes for the price.
Bro I don't know anything about electric guitar...and i want to purchase my first electric guitar ..I don't know what's a fixed bridge and tremolo bridge...just tell me which one should I buy
@@nvjohansson9741 Lol, phone... Listen to this on proper speaker or headphones! The difference is clear! IMO the Infinity pickups on the GRX were much better than the dead sounding IBZ on the GRG.
@@laurasmrkolj5082 I've been researching Ibanez guitars for months during lockdown! Think I prefer the GRX70QA..looks better to me, and great reviews everywhere... And the price is great for what u get! Trouble is I can't decide if I prefer the red or blue now! 😆 On top of that, I still really like the mid range priced RG Series! My max budget is £350.......but to tide my Ibanez craving over for a couple months.....I've bought the bargain GRG 140 Sun Burst for £143 on Thomanns website! 😆 Couldn't resist as it's £179 through most guitar sites online! But it's possible UPS may ask for another delivery charge when they deliver Monday! It's still a bargain until I upgrade in a few months......I'm impatient n spontaneous.....which can be a problem when buying guitars I'm finding! Apart from the guitar pick ups......the style and colour of the guitar affects my choice too as I'm a lockdown beginner! I never saw myself as an Sun Burst guy! But I've already bought a black Fender Telecaster and a cheap stealth black/dark red Harley Benton HH (£71!!) So I'm keeping the best colours for my best future Ibanez guitar purchases. I'll definitely get an GRX70QA at sum point though......once I've looked at the blue / red colour another million times! 😄 I'll use them as wall backdrops for my future utube creative chat show! I see you have no vids up yet!....how long u been playing guitar 🎸? Don't respond if u don't want to.....I'm just bored in my flat. All gud, nice to know someone has same guitar choice issues as me!
@@creativitycell Hi, I'm also in the same ones, but I choose 121, I've been researching and I only look at good reviews .... but I'm worried about something, mine is not metal but I will buy it, it is good for beginners. Cheers
Right off the bat the black one looks killer. not crazy about the other one never cared for HSH,. looks crowded and wonky and who the hell needs a middle pick up especially on a guitar aimed at metal.
The single coil allows for Strat tones in positions 2, 3 and 4. More versatility for those who need it. If you only play heavier music and metal, stick to humbuckers.
I like the sound of the GRX more, but for some reason, your playing on the GRX was choppy, like you were having some trouble playing it. Is that because you were sicker when you filmed the GRX footage?
i cant decide pleaseeeeee somebody help , i like trash , groove , heavy metal - crunch tones and of course blues . 70qa sounds much cleaner and bright to me but idk it cuz of setup or amp settings , 121dx ... that shape , that style .. jeeeeesus i cant get out i desperately in need . im new at this im getting a hobby and decide to learn an instrument , gonna buy blackstar id core 10 v3 for amp and a guitar . narrowed those two but cant go further :S there is no one around me knows about music or instruments that i can ask for help .
I have a GRG121DX on a FedEx truck out for delivery as I type this. Got it used on ebay for a $133 delivered. I think this one is the better of the 2 guitars. A major consideration is the 700QA only has 22 frets as opposed to the 121DX having 24.
Having this guitar for almost 7 months now and I would say this was the best comparison video I needed when I was doing research of which affordable guitar I'm going for. Thanks 🙏🏻
@@godchickla7295 Hey man do you mind telling me how it is if you bought it? I'm planning on buying the grx as well so I would love a second opinion. Please mention any unexpected features and drawbacks if possible.
Quick question. Is the back of the grx70qa purple or blue like the rest of the guitar? Edit: Does the guitar look like the because on the lighting or is it like that 24/7?
Bought one for a friend, matte black ... I was AMAZED at how good the 121DX is, I mean if you told me it was woth a grand I would believe it. And the setup was perfect out of the box, neck felt perfect, tuners worked, sound was good, the attention to detail like I have never seen on a guitar this cheap (or even more expensive ones), flawless, even the frets were shiny and polished ... crazy part, even the strings were shiny. I do not know where the catch is but it looks like they really made this model amazingly well from the get go, I just wonder if they are loosing money on this or is the skilled labor that cheap in China. And looks so freaking awesome that I am thinking of buying one just to have one, the matte black body and pickups, the contrasting bright shark teeth inlays on the superbly sanded fretboard and no sharp fret ends. Before buying this one on Thomann I have returned one B-stock Schecter C-6 deluxe, crappy fret job and sort of soft neck and an Ibanez 121SP, the one with the rosted maple neck, that had fret buzz no mather how high I set the action. Both more expensive than the 121DX, so I do not understand how these things go, maybe just luck of the draw ... hope it will stay this good for a long time.
nice tone. but with overdrive dang. i understand the principal purpose of the video and recording was to demo the purest sound of the guitars and his pickups directly to the amp channels without anything modifying it. pretty cool video.
@@ArtyomReborn thanks. But unfortunately grx70qa is not available in my local stores or online portals either. Can you suggest an alternative in case I don't find grx anywhere?
If you had a budget of 300 Dollars, which one would you choose? Yamaha Pacifica 112V or this Ibanez GRX70QA? Is there a HUGE difference? Because I am so IN LOVE with that Ibanez and its colour scheme and will surely have more motivation to play. BUT, when the Pacifica is that much better, I would go for that one!
yamaha is an excellent choice, pacifica sound is brighter, however, ibanez is certainly more versatile, more comfortable, its hardware is better, it's vintage and prettier hahaha. Greetings from Brazil!
Well I think if you are getting only own guitar and are going to own only one for a bit, then the Ibanez is the obvious choice as it is quite a bit more versatile and also as you said, kinda just looks better and tbh you're not gonna hear that much of a difference with a good amp so at the end of the day, you should just get the one that makes you practice and play more
I have the walnut version of the grg 121 dx. I've been having issues with the guitar. I'm not the best player, and the guitar seems fine when looking at it. But the tone is horrible, washed out or bland. I've listened to recordings of other guitars and I'm aware of the differences in the electronics. But it doesn't even sound like yours which is strange. Me and my friend hear this clangy metalic buzz when I record something with it. I have raised the action quite a lot, the pickups are adjusted, the strings are still stock, the guitar is tuned.
Have you tried looking at the bridge? Or does it sound fine when played dry and not plugged in. If it only buzzes when plugged in it could be anything from bad electrics to busted pickups.
@@TheLowest I ended up changing the strings, and now it sounds a lot better. I can live with the smaller issues like noise. The buzz is less frequent now, and almost non esistent. I wanted to change the pickups to something else too. Because it still sounds much darker than most demo's including this one. I even changed the conditioner on the tone pot, it barely changed. I guess mine are just dark and a little noisy. Which a gate can fix but still.
@@alyctro8158 This is a year late, but... The height of the pickups to the strings might make it sound darker, since u said u raised the action. Also have u intonated the guitar? That might also make it sound weird if not.
@@MaximusAdonicus I will say that i've attempted doing it and i think i made things worse. I usually play in drop D or lower and the first string is always a few semitones off.
I don't know which one to choose as my first guitar. I prefer the look of 121 and it has 24 frets but 70qa is more versatile because of pick up configuration
@@baddibilshorts9533 Well I think if you are getting only own guitar and are going to own only one for a bit, then the Ibanez grx is the obvious choice as it is quite a bit more versatile and also kinda just looks better and tbh you're not gonna hear that much of a difference with a good amp so at the end of the day, you should just get the one that makes you practice and play more
@@dakshmehan4114 like the black one grg121dx is for 333 bucks at me country And it will be my first elec guitar that's why I'm nervous cause I've been saving for a long time so im sure I will own it for a long time
@@baddibilshorts9533 If you want a guitar that can play basically anything, the grg isn't that good of an option. You can consider the grx or the yamaha pacifica instead. Also, 333 bucks for the grg is a really bad deal as they go for 200 bucks.
@@dakshmehan4114 im getting both for 200 ngl I don't hear the sound difference since it'll be my first but im drawn to the looks of grg121.... the higher model ranking of the grx confuses me tho
Between these two, if you are only going to own one then the grx is the obvious choice as it can play basically everything whereas the grg is sort of limited to metally tones
Honestly upgrading to the GRG121DX is probably one of the best things I've ever done. It's amazing for the price and doesn't shred my fingers to pieces with hellishly high action like my previous knockoff strat that I thought I could salvage with better electronics sure it was better than it originally was but nothing could save those dodgy frets siezed truss rod and godforsaken bridge that no amount of adjustments could get it intoneated properly.
The main difference I hear is that the patterned guitar is a bit brighter, works better on some kinds of material where the matte black works on other kinds of material. Differences might be more along the lines of playability.
БОЛЬШОЕ СПАСБО !!! в миксе звук просто бомба у обеих !!! 121 немного тускнее на соло и чистом, но внешне 121 просто пуля!!!! теперь точно уверен что 121 мой будет выбор
What a great video, straight to the point, amazing, thanks so much for the video , if you can make another video with the Ibanez grg121dx against another similar guitar thanks a lot
Perfect G.B. for me as I'm trying to decide between the two. If I could afford to buy both, I'd buy a single better geeeetar, Feel better Artyom! P.S. Jumbo or Medium? bty Excellent Demo.
Im thinking of asking for one of these for christmas, ive only been playing for a few months but really want to get into playing metal or maybe some punk. Ive narrowed it down to these two. Which should I get?
