Much in the vein of classic sports car ethos, the SRKP4 is sleek, yet simple. Muscular, yet agile. Turbo charged by the Mini Kaoss Pad 2s, this is the perfect vehicle for any level of aptitude, any style of playing, or any musical genre.
I bought one. There are several useful effects even for regular rock, and I can take the Kaoss out, snap on the regular back (which comes with) and play MP3's through it and DJ. Has a Mic, speaker, headphone jack, Micro-SD card and MP3 player built in. It can record your playing and can play tracks to practice with. The bass is lightweight and well set up and comfortable. Also has a preamp, distortion, and another headphone jack. A unique mashup from a skunkworks in Ibanez Japan.
I played one of these in a Guitar Center for about half an hour and this is what I came away with. The kaoss pad is fun to play with and it can do some cool stuff. The problem is, the bass itself kind of sucks. The tone doesn't come close to an SR300, which is pretty low in the series, and and you're essentially just paying $400 for a mini kaoss pad and a bad bass to hold it. It's made of extremely light wood, but that's all the wood is good for. You could play it all day, but after 30 minutes, you wouldn't want to.
My Son picked up a Korg Mini Kaosilator Pad 2 for $50 used at a local pawn & now there's another pawn in the area with a Ibanez SRKP4 for $109 that's missing the pad. It's a much cheaper bass than my SR300.. Not even sure the kaosilator can be used in the SRKP4 but for cheap we can acquire one.
just like the iPhone, Samsung Galaxies & what ever other new cellphones the industries are going to come up with...what i mean is...just another crazy electric bass guitar invention to make some weirdo happy...nuff said!!!
Love it or hate it - the only part of the whole deal that I find irritating is the constant red & green flashing controls... If they can do all that then they can find a way to control those controls' brightness. That alone would keep me from one.
can i use the kaoss pad with another bass guitar? i saw, i can buy just a kaoss pad. can i plug in my bass guitar,? i fall in love this effects, but i dont want to change my bass...
I bought one of these new last year, and it broke in a week. The bass and it's electronics were very cheap. It ended up only making static for sound. The week it worked convinced me it was not worth getting a new one. It sounded worse than a cheap Chinese bass you can get from Walmart. I wished the Kaos pad was useful, but it felt difficult to use with most playing techniques, and most of its effects are useless for a bass since they were designed for dance music. I returned it and got a used ME-50B pedal board, which is much more usable, and got a Marcus Miller Sire V7 that has so much better tone, construction, and electronics.
Thomann.de currently have a shipment due in January with a listed UK price of about £310-ish. Considering the bang for buck it's not a bad price. I don't know whether this type of design would lend itself well to anything other than a sort of niche electro-funk or psymetal band, it's quirky, but I'll stick with the SR300 I think.
they keyboardists left hand has been trying to steal our job forever. fuck they keyboard. that being said, i cant ever see myself picking one of these up
It's a gimmick. Leo didn't put one on a Jazz Bass, so no other bass needs one. These'll be off the market in 2-3 years, if that long. So, pick one up today, cause they'll be rare. If Ibanez wants to do something worthwhile, let 'em start makin' some of their popular 5-strings with a 19mm string spacing.
