The problem with Africa is that we celebrate thieves. Allow them to keep their loot and be treated as statesmen, heroes instead of villain deserving the harshest punishment and to be treated with contempt. IBB and many corrupt and ruthless African leaders shouldn’t be allowed to keep their loot. Letting them keep is setting bad precedents, it confirms that crime pays. This is our biggest problem in Africa. A thief is a thief and it doesn’t matter whether they have stolen a goat, chicken, robbed citizens of public resources, are a villager, an ex president, young or old. They must be punished in equal proportion to the crime committed and deprived of the stollen goods or wealth so that leaders coming after them are warned. I don’t consider IBB a hero and sad that many here are praising him. May God the almighty, Allah open our eyes as citizens to the filths committed by men like him impoverishing this continent

IBB doesn't qualify as a hero. There's nothing heroic about him. Infact, he's a major factor in the continuous struggle for nationhood. He created more problems than he solved (if any). His Maradonic postures is inimical to the peace and stability of Nigeria. He legalized many illegalities. He's therefore, a criminal that ought to be brought to book.

I quite agree with you and that is the system in the Western world. Look ex-president Trump, regardless of he acclaimed wealth, he is been invested for instigating violence in America including his cabinet and all senators, representatives and everyone suspected of affiliating with him. America will tell you that "Nobody is above board" but in Nigeria, political criminals are being called Godfather and celebrated. What a shame.

Do you know that the total of what Abacha and IBB were alleged to have looted from Nigeria are less than$4 billion;while obasanjo and Jonathan have stolen $60 billion and $200 billion respectively? The data is there from EFCC, CBN and National assembly if you care to confirm. You people are selfish, you always malign and demonise Northerners; while southerners are the most corrupt people on Earth.Look at civil servants at Federal level when Federal capital was at Lagos, everything is give me money for you to have your file processed.Even here at Abuja southerners demand for bribery for whatever you want them to do. So, you southerners are the masters of corruption that hinder economic development in Nigeria.you teach some Northerners to do the same, you then turn and accuse them of leading in corruption because you dominate media.

The military men in Nigeria were rare in terms of impacting the lives of the common Nigerian. IBB annulled a democratic process in June 12 1993 elections . A man who gave license to corruption and tries to justify his own graft by highlighting the immense corruption of current political class only shows an ex-president who refuses to be held accountable as a public servant. Whenever I listen to this very diabolical man commenting on national issues, my heart bleeds for Nigeria. Here's a man that unilaterally annulled the best election in the annals of elections in Nigeria & almost plunged the country into another war in the process. Here's a man who mismanaged the 12 .4 Billion Dollars gulf war windfall in 1991 . Here's a man that was clearly linked with the murder of one of the finest journalists in Nigeria, the late Oladele Sunmonu Giwa on 19th October, 1986 . In a saner clime, this evil man would have been cooling his heels in jail long ago, but unfortunately this is Nigeria where evil men always have their way. It is an under statement when I refer to IIBB as the best PRESIDENT Nigeria has ever had. I saw ingenuity, Creativities, practicality in leadership, Nationalism, inclusions, social integrations and other positive ties too many to mention. Needless talking about legacies like making it possible that a Yoruba Nationalist became a President. He taught Nigeria Leadership elites how highly productive it is to employ the services of Creative technocrats for positively resourceful governance. At this point, I remember how resourceful people like Chu Okongwu, Omo Omoruiyi, & Prof. Humphrey Nwosu were in their respective Ministries in IBB'S government. This doesn't to say that he was a perfect leader for no one can ever be. Notwithstanding, IBB is an ICON of Leadership worthy of emulation. He was never tribal. I PRAY FOR MERCY, & GRACE TO LIVE LONGER IN GOOD HEALTH & ABUNDANCE IN J E S U S Name..Amen.

We have to rewrite the starting with YOU. You were: 1. The one who FLOATED the Naira at a time when you haven't a Clue how to float a currency. The result was NAIRA SANK. It's still sinking. 2. YOU cut salaries of civil servants and in one fell swoop DESTROYED THE MIDDLE CLASS. Today Nigeria has more poor people than India. You didn't know that the civil servant s represent the backbone of Nigeria middle class. 3. You created Rural Electrification as a means to LOOT money from the salaries of civil servants Your LEG-TRICITY broke the economic leg of Nigeria. Egypt produces about 3 times of what Nigeria produces. We are still wallowing in the DARKNESS you started.

Thank you so much Ngozi, for this wonderful interview. I 'm happy for the professionalism you employed throughout the interview. Now I am beginning to see IBB, differently. So glad he treated all your questions, including the June 12 cancellation, which he had always, refused to attempt. I like to congratulate him on his new age and status in life.
