I just installed the bundle I purchased from you guys, great product and instructions, thank you! Quick(stupid) question though. I'm now installing the backup camera, and the "hole" in my tailgate grommet on my 2016 Jeep JK is so tight, there is NO WAY I can feed the camer wire through it with the existing stock 3rd tailight wire already in there. What is the best way to proceed?
@trailseven
@trailseven 7 месяцев назад
We’ve encountered grommets that are a hard rubberized plastic which doesn’t flex to allow the hole to stretch at all. In those cases, a small drill bit is the best way. You will need to drill a second hole in the surrounding area with a dab of silicone to seal it up afterwards if needed.

Great tutorial video 🙏🏾👍🏾. I was a bit confused on the process of connecting the camera power and ground wire to the wiring harness for the brake/reverse light. I seen and understood the the connection procedure, my question is do I have to cut into the existing harness to splice in the ground and power wire of the camera or there is a area to add the new wire in without cutting etc like where the 2 blue wire caps are. From my understanding that portion of The video just shows you explaining the wires colors.

Great question Jerry and thank for the kind comments! The existing Jeep wire harness that runs down into the tail light will need to be cut into. We identified which cable to look for by calling out the other colors which consist of the bundle. The red wire from the camera harness will need to be spliced into the grey/ white wire from the Jeep wire bundle for power and the black wire from the camera harness will need to be spliced into the black wire from the Jeep bundle. Hope this answered your question but please let know if need anything!

Just purchased the 9000es with the ibeam and xm. Will the reverse gear on 6 speed manual trans jk 2012 trigger the reverse camera, or will I have to tap into the reverse light for power/trigger?
@trailseven
@trailseven 4 месяца назад
No need to tap into any wiring, we pre-wire the camera to connect directly to the back of the head unit. Check out the written install guide on our site. We have pre-wired your camera to utilize power from the radio wire harness vs. the rear taillight as shown in the video. You can either tap into the power from the rear tail light as shown, OR use the provided power connections on the RCA and radio harness. The suggested method is to connect the attached bullet connectors. If using the attached connections, you will NOT connect the power wire to the taillight, nor will you ground the wire at the taillight. You will only connect the attached bullet connectors to each other. Picture shown: trailseven.com/blogs/jeep-installation-guides/back-up-camera-install

NOTE: I've just received a notification from Trail Seven Support that this video may be incorrect. The cameras are no longer to be wired into the tail light in most circumstances. In my case, the backup lights after a short time of working normally with the camera, never turn off once the vehicle is started.
@trailseven
@trailseven 10 месяцев назад
Hello- It's not that the video is wrong. The method of taking power from the tail light is most certainly a universal option. When the camera and the head unit is bought simultaneously from us, we pre-wire them for an easier plug and play install. We attach male and female bullet connectors to each side for the customer to simply terminate. NOTE- our installation guide which is emailed out with each order and is broadcasted on the website explains the bullet connectors and instructions. In your case, it sounds like the wires weren't completely tapped into or something else was shorted out during the install.

I have the XAV-AX4000 ( from you guys) with an aftermarket camera from Amazon (Eway 3.0). The camera set up is basically the same but I am getting a "no video signal detected'. This wouldn't be a Maestro set-up issue?
@trailseven

Hello Rob! The “no video signal detected” will always be displayed when no camera is installed. If you’ve installed a camera and still seeing this message, it means there isn’t a solid connection to power and not related to the Maestro. I would confirm your connections starting at the camera itself then working forward to the head unit RCA’s. How and where did you terminate the power for the camera? HOWEVER, our instructions on our page display a different power source which allows for the full functionality of the screen button. @@trailseven thank you for the quick response! I have the ibeam you used in the installation, but am installing to a kenwood ddx9707s. For the back up camera wiring, I was going to cut and integrate the red and black wire into the factory wires as told in the instructions later but found out that the camera works without connecting the red and black wire. What was the reason for integrating the red and black wire specifically? I’m not sure what I’m losing while neglecting the red and black wires connected to the brake lights. Brake lights work and back up works without the use of connection. I put it in reverse and it goes straight to the back up camera. Let me know if I’m missing something with those wires. Thanks
@trailseven
@trailseven Год назад
Connecting the red and black at the tail light is a universal connection. However when we send out our bundles, we pre-wire the camera wire and head unit connection with a male and female bullet connector which bypasses the need to tap into the tail light for power and ground. The bullet connectors are providing the necessary connections to allow full functionality of the Sony head units feature. This will enable the camera button on the head unit to operate as intended. You’ll be able to activate the camera by pressing the button regardless of what gear you’re in, as well as when in reverse.
@jayclark3903
@jayclark3903 Год назад
Wish I had seen this before spending hours removing the factory sub, which is a pain to remove. Also, if you connect the red/black camera wires to the pre-wirwd bundle it may cause an issue. In my case it was keeping the reverse lights partially illuminated. Save yourself a lot of headache if you buy the pre-wired bundle.
