In this video, we visit the amazing, gigantic Ibirapuera park which is one of the biggest parks in São Paulo and receives more than 15 million visitors per year! we show you the park, its lakes, the monuments nearby (Monumento às Bandeiras) and much more. In the second part of the video, we visit the beautiful neighbourhood of Vila Madalena and show you the famous Batman alley which is located in that neighbourhood. A curious cultural note: the map on the monument is a copy of the one Affonso de Taunay managed to compose based on the one he got from Spain while he was looking into the historical documents concerning the expansion of the Portuguese 'bandeiras" - "flags", which is a term coined later by historians - into our inner territory. What's interesting is that the "bandeirantes" took advantage of a system of tracks carved into the ground connecting different places in South America. They were already known by the indigenous peoples - did they really carve them themselves? A pyramid-like mystery! - and led all the way to Cuzco. They're called the "peabiru".
