Ibis actually has a reference window now! If you click the arrow at the bottom right, you can go to settings and go under "User Interface" and turn on reference window :D It gives you the option to see the entire drawing (even when zoomed in) and you can put other pictures in there to look at as you draw!
The annoying thing is if you turn the UI invisible the reference window turns invisible as well. Which is absolutely annoying to phone users because the screen is small enough and It keeps changing the brush size and opacity :/
i use ibis paint x on my phone but i want to get a drawing tablet for procreate 😭!!! i think that procreate is a better choice but ibis paint is fun to draw on too
Yess I think procreate is better in terms of smoothness and end result quality, but Ibispaint is so fun to experiment on because they have a lot of brushes and filters 💖
For the 'magnety' brush settings, you can click on the brush and its settings. In stabilization, you can adjust streamline so you can control how 'magnety' it is
i have procreate and ibis paint they both work rlly good and i've had better results with pro create but ibis paint was rlly fun to use, ive used it for years. ibis paint had so many settings and cool stuff you could do etc for free
For the other Ibis Paint users, if you’re not a fan of how the bucket tool works and you hate coloring stuff in, in “special tools” if you click the settings button, there’s a tool called “lasso fill” It’s basically just the lasso tool but the area you used the lasso tool on gets colored, there’s also a lasso eraser
Remember people It's not the tool, its the artist im drawing on pc, in clip studio, for years i thought medibang and krita are bad, today i tried them and i left with a shock of how good it fits all the needs, they may lack a few tools but still wow
I feel like you hit the nail on the head with these comparisons, I personally like procreate better but there’s so many different functions and hacks that it’s kinda hard to learn them all lmaooo, Great video by the way! I love your art!
ibispaint is my #1 because the custom brushes are way easier and overall everything is more beginner-friendly. i used this as my first art app so there may be some bias!
as a person who used ibis for 3 years, and just got procreate like a month ago, procreate is so much better. (for me at least) and has the same features as ibis but it feels like the quality got higher, the brushes are so smooth and organized. but the fun thing about ibis is its filters.
Multiple selections is simple, you select what you wanted and hold the selection tool again for a few seconds! Its literally so lifesaving. And for the lines when you select you can find it in the wrench icon, idk what its called, but im sure its there, you just gotta find it! I hope you see this 😭
Hi I’m a procreate user and I noticed you didn’t mention the fact that you can make brushes and new folders for your brushes in procreate just for anyone who didn’t know if you go all the way to the top there’s a plus button and it’s there also you can see your brush history in a folder thing that’s called Recent :)
I love procreate so much . But no matter how many tries of attempting to replicate the ibis basic brush , i can never really get the same feeling . It doesnt have the same perfect sharp edge as ibis . But i really like the animation function on procreate , simple and easy . I think ibis is very sufficient for drawing . The canvas size can go up to quite big anyway . I guess the screen and ad may be a bit off putting,.... Eh . Have many things to say . Too tired gonna sleep gn 💤😴
I've always used ibispaint but just recently I bought Procreate, I tried it out but I am beyond confused and suddenly I've gone back to elementary school art class 🤣🤣🤣 I'm excited for this!!
How the Procreate brush reacts actually depends on the brush settings, it won’t be stretchy if you edit the brush to be less strechy And for multiple selection, after making one selection click ‘add’ on the bottom and then you can select another selection
on Ibis Paint there's an option to watch an ad and then it'll give you access to the paid features for like 18 hours, that's what I do. I think one ad every 18 hrs is a pretty good deal lol
You can make multiple selections in procreate by tapping the little gray circle on a selection! You can also get rid of the pattern in selection in the settings by turning it's opacity down (or however you want it!)
I’ve discovered this recently, so to make many selections you have to first make one and then once an area has been selected just draw the next selection and click on the circle at the end of the line and continue Sorry if this doesn’t make sense
Since you asked about the screen protector, for drawing I actually suggest Bellemond. Of your search up ‘paper like screen protecter’ the results are not the best, so I did some research and found out that Bellemond is a very nice screen protecter and doesn’t scratch the Apple Pencil.
This is a cool video! I started digital art on ibis and used that for about a year. It was recommended by a friend and we had a lot of fun using it together. When I got a new iPad, I started using procreate. I immediately liked procreate better because ibis had a sort of cheaper look (it’s a free app so I don’t blame the devs). But I think the best free software for beginners is definitely ibis and the more professional one is procreate.
In my opinion, ibis paint is the best! It’s your tablet/iPad that makes the quick selection like that. If you got a newer iPad, then it’s the new iPads problem. I have a very old tablet and everything works good.
"Stretchy" was what I couldn't get used to when testing Procreate on Apple stores. Drawing lines felt like pulling strings, the lines move in a way which was not what I intended.
Honestly for me, the only reason why I didn’t get ibis paint was because it doesn’t have the controlled feel :’j There’s a lot of brushes on pro create that doesn’t have the controlled feel tho, and you can turn down stability ^^
For The Ibispaint Airbrush, I personally used 60% one. It's easiest in terms of blending in my opinion. But then again I've been using Ibis for years, but you can give that brush a try! :D Great Video by the way😊✨
I use ibis paint because I only have my phone even though I remember seeing procreate for cellphones I feel like it'd be harder to get used to another program, but as you get familiar with it, it's going to be nice
This is one of my concern too I think procreate has lots of tools, we can do sooo many things there but then ibis is... Good too! Ah it's so hard to choose. By the way! I came here because of mingi hahahh omg your drawing is sooo good and the webtoon vibe one!ahhhh!! It's perfect! Love it0
I had a feeling you were going to say procreate and of course there’s nothing wrong with that. But for someone who has used IbisPaint for 10+ years every time I download a new drawing app I end up deleting it because of how much I’m used to IbisPaint.
I could't live without Procreate's airbrush, I use it every single time I draw. Edited to add I love Paperlike and have had it on my iPad for about 2 years now. I also use the silicone tips on my apple pencil, its got just the right grip for me now.
Procreate's airbrush is the best! I was considering to buy Paperlike but some ppl told me it ruined the apple pencil tip 😥 thinking about buying the pencil tip protector instead 🤔
@@fungzau , I have never had an issue with my Paperlike and my apple pencil tip, even before I started using the silicone tips. I think some of those videos are sensationalized just for view counts or they press really really hard when they draw...with normal pressure you won't have an issue.
@@fungzau using paperlike is a huge improvement, but ive seen people buy whole new apple pencils because of paperlike, PLEASE dont do that, just buy more tips($19 for 4). Also people make it seem like it'll ruin ur tip within months, but im pretty sure it could last 2 years.
layout and brush settings make procreate good but lacks important features like outlines and other stuff but ibis paint have lots of features including all of procreates features, only problem is that theres ads
I've used ibis paint than procreate because it was very confusing with me and I didn't understand how, I decided to use procreate and it's so much better. I'm still learning how to use it. I'm always used to the selection layer to draw or shade and not of out of the outlines like Ibis paint x. So I'm still very confused but overall. It's pretty good!
Maybe I'm super late but Paperlike is amazing lol. They give you 2 protectors in a pack (which I wasted because I applied the first one wrong 😢) and a free procreate brush set. The texture is just satisfying as heck. I've never been able to use a bare screen or any other protector.
I use ibis paint on my phone, and it's okay and works well enough for me 😅 But I knew you were drawing Mingi from the second I saw your thumbnail 💜 Atiny here ✌️
i visually prefer procreate- its so much more appealing to the eye and easier to use than ibis imo, the brushes are cool too but i much more prefer the custom options when making a brush with procreate rather than ibis paint
I’ve been using both at the same time for about half a year now? Started with ibispaint 3 years ago and bought procreate later but kept using ibis because the brushed in procreate didn’t feel nice to use Until I downloaded a specific brush pack that was really nice to use so now I kinda just jump back and forth They’re both very good it’s just up to personal preference (and if you’re planning on using HUGE canvas sizes I’ve heard procreate is better)
I use the Bellemond matte screen protector for my iPad pro. I use the 10.5 inch ipad pro, but they have multiple other screen sizes to choose from! It works well with or without a silicone apple pencil tip protector (those are fun to try out without a protector too. They give more resistance when you draw) Also just so you're aware a matte screen protector won't protect your screen from shattering. It'll only protect it from scratches and give you a matte surface to draw on. I hope this helps!
Procreate, Ibis Paint and Medibang are all great! Procreate is my number 1 baby 🥺 and as for screen protectors-use tempered glass for sure. At first I was gonna fall to paper like, but after research it is not worth it. Paperlike eats away at your Apple Pencil and will shave the tip down to where you’d have to keep buying a new one. Tempered glass is easy to draw on, so don’t be discouraged. Some people will say it’s too slippery, but it’s really not.
For ProCreate shading, I just use clipping mask with a blank layer on top of the base layer so I don't need to use the magic wand tool. Nice review by the way~
I've used Ibis Paint X for so many years, watching to switch to procreate because my lines are in my full control, which means when another line is connected, it doesn't automatically shift such as Procreate. (At least I've seen) Now I want to go back to Ibis Paint X and try all over again just for a 10+ hour drawing to fail.
I only use ibisPaint, in the start it’s bc procreate is expensive to download but now I also think it’s easier on ibisPaint, but I really like brush in procreate
Well l’ll choose ibis paint cuz it’s the app that l’m most comfortable to use like l’m using it like 4 or 5 years and l have so many memories- Btw the creator adding more and more updates and l think with new updates the app could be wayyy better than now and for a free drawing app l think it’s a really good app ^^
In my opinion I think which one you use can depend on your style. For a more smooth Anime-like style you might want to go for IbisPaint. But for a more rough painterly or cartoony style you might want to go for Procreate. As a person who likes to drawing a smooth Anime-like style I can’t stand Procreate.
for next one i hope you make ibis paint videos more bcs i only have a tablet and i still want to learn digital art from your channel, your explanation is very easy to understand so thats why i always watch your video for my reference hihi. fighthing!
My only problem with procreate is when using the selection tool (I think that's what is called the arrow), if you move something it gets pixelated. For screen protector I use a glass protector and I don't have problem drawing or writing. I love al the gestures that you can activate in procreate and how Intuitive becomes after awhile
Regarding your comment about the selection pattern in 1:13 , i just watch a video in youtube about it (didnt try myself yet) that we can adjust the opacity by clicking the wrench icon > go to 'pref' > see the last option about invisibility > adjust it 👍 hope it works for u
(I use the pen so this is my opinion using the pen aswell) I'm gonna be honest the paper like has its good side and it's bad side good side is that for me it's comfortable and nice and has a very aesthetic feeling to it tbh it's bad side is that if you do download any apps using fingers it is uncomfortable and hard to use although u probably already got a screen protector
I recently got procreate after using ibispaint for awhile and tbh maybe Im just so used to using ibispaint but u kind of like it better, I can’t find good brushes that don’t cost money that give me a the lineart look I’m going for that suits my art style and honestly it’s so sad cuz I used money when I ended up liking ibispaint in terms of brushes better but the overall app I would say procreate is nice:,)
for screen protectors I think just getting a cheap one with good reviews would work, paperlike tears up your apple pencil tip after a while, for something so expensive I think it's not worth risking but if you're fine with it go for it, tips wear out overtime anyway
Well, I personally believe that procreate is kinda better. I've been using ibis paint x for 2 years drawing by my finger, and it is very frustrating. It lacks a lot of things especially the selection layer. It is useless. Additionally, it doesn't have a shine layer, which means that you have to make a dark background every time you want to add a shine. It also looks kinda ugly. I don't know much about procreate, but what I've already mentioned I think they exist in this app. It is also beginners friendly. I don't owe a stylus neither an ipad but I'm thinking of buying a new tablet, because drawing in phone is kinds hard. I'm also thinking to download clips art studio, as many reviews say that it is one of the best drawing apps. It also has 3d models and perspectives- stuff I grapple with learning.
as an atiny you can imagine my excitement when i was looking for a video comparing procreate and ibis and saw mingi in the thumbnail that’s truly destiny right there lol
Actually picks up the colors I don’t know why for no reason when you press on it hard enough it just automatically just start collecting color and that’s why sometimes I take it serious but I don’t use IBS pants cause it’s only app that I can express my true feelings but thank you for actually telling me what I can do with the app but you’re cool
I *personally* use ibis paint even if I have an ipad and money to buy procreate. Because idk why but ibis paint brushes and online brushes, the filters and the many advanced options that I learn with the time keeps me in the app. I really love it and I don’t want to buy procreate. (So quirky LMAO)
if u want to get rid of the random lines in procreate, press the wrench icon on the top left, go to prefs then gesture controls then go to general and press the first one
