i already said it: "you are a genious, mr. maalouf!!!". so many feelings, such a message from your wounded, but fool of hope, beirouth. love you. sorin from israel
No words can explain my joy in hearing you play. You made me feel as if I am back in Beirut after an absence Of 43 years and I am in tears. Please never stop playing your wonderful music, no matter what happens. May God Bless you for the happiness you can continue to give us. Nelly G. G. In France.
So beautiful and sad, you transpire all the pain, suffering and misery wars cause, it's like a hymn to all the fallen children, to dreams destroyed, to war ravaged broken people. Your voice, the way you play the trumpet, is a mirror to your soul reflecting our own souls, to a feeeling of loss and then at the later stages of Beirut of anger, an explosion of rage and defiance at all the injustices. Beirut is Aleppo, is Gaza, is Mariupol, is every place torn by senseless wars. You're extraordinary Ibrahim Maalouf , bravo.
listening to this while reading the news from Beirut is really a strange and sad experience. Thank you for the soothing sounds in the face of all those difficulties in the world.
:( annoyed so bad ! that advert in mid of this amazing music only achieved this: I will never buy the product on the advert and don't pay you tube a penny.!!!
This is so awesome piece that it's hard to find the words ... just wow. There is sadness and fear, yet there is also pride, and you can hear it all without words.
Omg .... my life. This song is so often what I play to be at peace with myself, which is quite frequent. And to top it off, an awesome solo with the guitar (bad sound effects for such an awesome solo) you should fix that. THEN THE SONG IS PERFECT FOR ME.
I’m speechless, again. Every time I hear “Beirut” it lays me to waste. My family is from Lebanon and I hear their lives, their tender hearts and the agony they’ve suffered and, it is achingly beautiful, like life. Thank You
Well yes, it s a sad, dramatic song about society, as i see it. lovely to the ear. when i hear it the feelings takes me back to a safe place, like home but also thinking of the bad things in hapening in this world. Peace and let s hope for the best!
Uhh, my Lebanon, What had the corruption did to you will never be either forgotten or forgiven. Uhh, my Lebanon, You don't deserve what is happening to you. Uhh, my Lebanon, One day, we will come back to you and find you as you were before. Uhh, my Lebanon, Your children are being immigrated day by day to find a safer place... Uhh, my Lebanon, Home will never be replaced as we are your children one day we will rebuild you to be the home we used to know... Uhh, my Lebanon...
Love to all !!!!
Amazing, this was recommended by RU-vid....woow this is pure emotion, amazing music, soul touching. Thanks Ibrahim for making this pure music. Thank RU-vid for recommending this.
Sexy, emotional stuff... Just stumbled on this by chance after a traumatic day watching parts of my country being vandalised by criminals. Greetings from South Africa
Merci ! Trugarez deoc'h !
It is so sad that most Moslem musicians have to live in exile because the crazed fundamentalists want to ban music of any kind. So much talent denied the freedom of expression.
Jazz with Arabic scales, just the perfect blend to feel both influences, yet it is its own thing. Masterful... And one day there is hope that wind instrument make a real comeback in rock ;)
Only recently discovered Ibrahimm Maalouf (reminded about him by the New York Times report from his gig at Dizzy's 26 May 2015 in New York. What is special here in addition to the music is that we get to see much more clearly his use of the quarter-tone valve and in some places to hear the quarter tone phrases that except for his trumpte playing father are unique in the trumpet world.
Ibrahim and his dad Nassim have certainly done a lot of superb, wonderful work with the 1/4 tone trumpet. It's not quite accurate to say that it's just the two of them, though. I did a gig in Tyre about 20 years ago in which another of Nassim's students, who was a member of the Lebanese National Symphony Orchestra, had such a trumpet. Also - it's not quite the same thing, but we shouldn't forget that Don Ellis was experimenting in this direction in the 1960s. None of this takes anything away from Ibrahim and his wonderful art, though!

It ends with a rock session, did not expect that. Goes from jazzy world music, through oceans, dreamy deserts, sweeping sky high into a rocky crescendo. I don't know.
You are so talented and gifted! I could not stop listening. You captured the essence of some seriously difficult to tackle notions while infusing your own improv style. Where this is really unique is your comment section and you get to see how many people truly do understand what it is like transposing through translation of different cultures! 🎺⚽️🔥From Dahshon
Cuprimentos musicais!
Sorry to be so offtopic but does anybody know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account?? I somehow forgot the account password. I appreciate any tricks you can give me!
How ingenious to integrate the quarter note on the trumpet. That really extends the repertoire of this instrument over its Western counterpart. Beautiful playing! 7:06
Everytime I listen to this, I picture an elephant, telling the story of it's life, about it's family & them being killed for Ivory, and his sorrow and anger ,at the world suffering because of the faulty selfish humans, and so in the end he cries out, passionately to God, for justice and retribution, and that elephant begins to trample the cities in a fiery gallop... Idk....it just fits in my head, like a story, and I feel it deeply.
Yeah, idk... sometimes I just think about this lost world, so much beauty and love to be shared and we humans are innately flawed when it comes to harmony...realizing this is how I eventually called out to God confused and tired of it & myself...and I found CHRIST as he responded to my cries soon after. He is my Hope, and contentment now. Knowing in him all will be made right, and the evil of our world will be judged most surely. I find great peace in that. And I continue on, trying to reflect righteousness as Christ set example to emulate...it's a process, I assure you. We are inclined to misguided behaviors, it takes disciple to overcome. As a believer, we are taught to submit to the Holy Spirit of God, and be remade, through the renewing of our minds...this gives you a new heart, and a higher direction/ aim of the actions you choose. I'm so thankful he came to me, my life hasn't been the same since, it gets better and better as I go..and don't worry...animals have spirits too...and they may leave here, but the father has them safe with him. The pure if heart are given heaven. The animals are pure...We humans are the ones that need Spiritual cleansing. Do what you can while here, and know God is in control. No one gets away with anything, and the righteous have their reward when u meet the Lord. Do what is Good and u will receive Good. The animals are going to be just fine after this world. Just get your personal soul in order and in righteousness while here...Jesus is coming soon...the signs are happening as he warned in Matthew. Went be long. Be ready. Shalom 🙏🏾
J aime infiniment !
