BIG RESPEKT OF BOKA CAMARA....AKASSA JEMBE, DUNDUN , DANCE FOLA GIVE ME NAME OF THIS BIG ARTIST...REPEKT FOREVER..THE SPIRIT OF RHYTMS OF DJEMBE IS COMING TO ME.....:-)
@KungFuJunky these are ksink ksink or keskes, anciently used as shield when the musicians were playing at battles, and now evolved in resonators to ad a little "shine" on djembe's sound :D hope tis be useful :D
@Nebrox They are (were) both outstanding djembe folas. They are also two of the fastest players I know. Doesn't matter who's faster. BTW check out Sidiki Dembele's djembe kans - He's Ivorian too and plays a lot like Guei. Very very fast hands and beautiful sounds.
I hate to say this, I think Ibrahima is much sharper than Mamady and Bolokada. Don't get me wrong, I definitely do give Mamady & Bolokada a lots of props, but, brother Ibrahima is tough and have them lighting fast hands with mucho good rhythms. Really, I always believe Ibrahima is the world best djembe drummer out there.
Nice for talking on the drum. That is the mark of a good African drummer, he should know what he is saying on the drum, not just improvise. Learn the language of the beats you play @ drum students.
