This is part 2 of the full journey on IC 2074 from Berlin to Westerland (Sylt).
The video starts at Itzehoe, after the electric Class 101 locomotive got replaced by a diesel Class 218 locomotive. The rest of the journey is taking place on a non-electrified railway, which is called Marschbahn. Originating in Elmshorn, this railway streches all the way to Westerland (Sylt), which is where this train goes. The short part between Elmshorn and Itzehoe is the only electrified part.
Optically this railway has much to offer. You alway have a good view over the flat landscape of Schleswig-Holstein, influenced by marine air. Especially the "Hochbrücke Hochdonn", a 2 km long and up to 56 metres high railway bridge, offers a far sight. To get from the mainland to the island of Sylt, the train has to cross the dam of Hindenburg, from where you can have a look at the Northern Sea. Destination is finally Westerland, the most northern railway station of Germany.
