I'm rocking one of these on my IC-705 as well. I put a small dab of hot glue on that socket and ribbon cable as an extra peace of mind. My other upgrade was from the AH-705 to a PA500 which allows me to go up to 60w, I typically run only 20w though.
Or another option is buy a $8 USB GPS dongle and plug it into the computer and use that to synchronise the computers time. Mike's got a video on it: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9HSfb1kp9NY.html
Great info sir.I struggled with similar issue when my old laptop refused to connect to www.The problem was the time synchronization , I spent lots of time solving that bug.
Micro USB & USB C are both terrible weak connectors, they're absolute TRASH for long term use. Your hands look like catchers mitts Dave, they're made for hard work 👍😁
Dave how do you recommend someone proceeds with Radio hobby, or whatever you and other Ham's call it sorry if hobby offends anyone if you don't have any of the HAM license's and don't have the money to buy the Icom radio and other expensive radio's that Ham's use?
Hey Dave. I've been watching your presence on hamalert for the last month or so. Sadly your signal hasn't been making it to my QTH so I haven't been able to make a contact but if the conditions are ever right and I'm on I'll definitely answer a CQ. Great vids. God bless.
I use a separate GPS dongle on my laptop for time sync, but I do like being able to have a USB-C port on my 705, I may upgrade mine just because. Thanks.
