Okay, I know this seems kind of anti Creddie-ish, but you guys know that I love Creddie. Anyway, here's the plot:
Freddie broke up with Carly. Carly was really upset, especially when she found out that Freddie had started going out with Sam and that they kissed. If you've seen the music video for White Horse, the story-line is basically like that.
The gray clips are Carly's flashbacks to when they were dating.
