iCarly Gets Canceled Again

It ended on a cliffhanger too. The Paramount Plus reboot of iCarly ends after three seasons and 33 episodes. Miranda Cosgrove, Jerry Trainor, and Nathan Kress returned for the iCarly reboot, but the show ends after a short run on the Viacom streaming service.
The original iCarly was a hit for the Nickelodeon network, but the reboot never had close to the same impact in entirely different entertainment age. Streaming dominates, and unfortunately, it often ends with old properties being dug up one day to be cast aside shortly thereafter.

They should have told the cast and crew upfront that three was the absolute minimum, instead the studio let everyone think they had a shot at more than that and now fans who watched are stuck actively thinking about Carly’s mother. Two months ago Paramount socials were asking who we wanted cast as Carly’s mother. Normally I’m whatever about cancelations but this so aggravating and what is worse is paramount acting like the cliffhanger never happened. It will probably take months or even years but somehow I don’t think it’s the last we’ve seen of icarly even if it’s just a wrap up movie.

Dude the same type of shit happens with cable. You know how many shows left off on cliffhangers back in the day. I think we need to look at the bigger issue which is nostalgia bait instead of actual creative content.

@@401felixas someone who grew up with iCarly, I was kinda excited about the reboot for the exact reason you're stating. Which is the wrong way to approach creating new content that's gonna be fresh and interesting. So, although I don't wanna agree with you, I have to agree with you 👍 The economics of nostalgia are ruthless!

I only watched the first couple of episodes. It was amusing but it was nowhere near as fun as the original. The original was like Monty Python for kids. The reboot significantly toned down the absurdity for a more deadpan tone.

The only main problem I have is it being cancelled on a MAJOR cliffhanger…at least do a 1 hour special to give us closure

Most of the time I don’t side with corporations especially Paramount. Harvey Beaks and Glitch Techs anyone. But I feel as though the story a majority of fans wanted see Carly x Freddie was told. I personally wanted a more grounded take on the adult iCarly gang ala The Big Bang Theory and Friends. The production crew I feel didn’t use the budget wisely as certain plot lines didn’t need to exist.

After they made the series finale a cliffhanger, and never concluded the biggest story lines on the iCarly reboot, I publicly told Paramount+ that they have no business being involved in entertainment. That series finale was such garbage, amateur work, that I've seen better elementary school plays. They ruined a once great franchise with amateur work that doesn't deserve to be rewarded. I'm happy to see that Paramount+ had quite a few cancelled subscriptions after that one. Honestly, I hope the company is forced to dissolve for such a poor quality product they delivered.

Dude I hate to break it to you, and this will come off as mean, but a major corporation doesn’t care about what you, an individual person, thinks about their decision to cancel the reboot. Sadly, they will only act on what they think is best for them, not what the fans want

@@lacosta0892 Right, but in a business like TV, making decisions that disappoint many of the people consuming the content they produce will hurt them a whole lot. Many people were only on that service to watch the iCarly reboot. Leaving the show that has been going on for over a decade and has hundreds of millions of fans, on a cliffhanger, is a terrible business decision, a terrible creative decision, and a terrible decision for both the iCarly brand and the company creating the reboot. This is from the perspective of a businessman.

They should not have canceled the grownup I Carly but I hope they make another spin-off or a movie or both another I Carly spin-off and a I Carly movie it was a lot better I agree with you about everything you said and tv shows today and with today’s tv shows end with season 3 and I only watched it because I am a Carly and Freddie Creddie shipper ever since I was a kid and because Carly and Freddie got together and made it official they ended it so I get it they canceled the reboot Miranda Crosgrove said that she’s hoping to see carlys mom and continue Carly’s and Freddie’slove story I want to see Carly and Freddie and Carly get married and have kids next so I’m hoping they put the new I Carly on Netflix or peacock

They rebooted it recently with some new cast members and basically made or tried to make an adult version of iCarly as I understand it That's what it seemed like they were going for anyway

Nickelodeon, CBS, and Paramount Plus are all under the same umbrella so it wouldn't be a purchase more like a transfer.

No. If that was the case, then it's likely the reboot would have been scrapped in production of season 1. Schneider wasn't involved with the reboot. Nick quietly fired him years ago. I wasn't aware Munck made accusations.
