At this point the Jacob=Icarus meme has gotten to the point where the original post has lost all meaning, and that’s not only hilarious but a perfect representation of the community.
@@sethlast9024 Icarus is a character in Greek(?) mythology who is given wax wings by his father to escape a prison, he then gets cocky, flies too close to the sun which causes his wings to melt and he falls to his death(?) The original post is a long comment basically saying Jacob is arrogant
@@exzyyd392 The best part is that the original post never actually called Jacob Icarus. They called him a real life Pit: a mid tier with an Icarus complex.
Personally, I think Alpharad's biggest strength is his pride. Every time he does something cool, it goes to his head and he just becomes more shameless about everything he does. He's like the real-life Duke Nukem: a mid-tier who replaced his health with his ego.
@@numberbndl3763 Pretty sure no. IIRC, Sakurai got a look at the starters for that Pokémon generation before the games were officially announced, and worked on making Greninja a Smash character, because he liked that design the most.
@@enlongjones2394 i mean the other two are clunky looking and wouldnt really fit in smash imo, braixen would have the second choice. smash characters all have a sort of elegance to them
13:01 look at the PRECISION on richter’s axe as he intentionally throws it at the bob-omb in Roy’s hand to explode it without hitting him, causing it to count as self damage and getting the fastest double zero to death in human history. All other richter mains might as well quit cause there’s no topping this. Bravo Roary, bravo 👑
"I never learned how to read" was a very specific quote of Pit's when Palutena had to cut off the power of flight and he almost fell to his death (much like icarus, when icarus flew too close to the sun and fell to his death in the story icarus.). It happened in the last Arum chapter iirc. That's why the shine kill, which sends him hurtling through the air the exact same way, has that quote.
I do think Jacob's biggest weakness is that he doesn't realize there's this really good sandwich place across from the train station. They make really good sandwiches and I can get everyone lunch if we go there or I can get an Uber, no problem!
@@Anafyral666 That's okay; sometimes I create false memories that Alpharad Deluxe are my real life friends, and then I remember I don't have real life friends :)
1:02:38 He says “I never learned how to read!” as he dies because he died before learning how to read. He feels regret that he never got the chance to learn how to read.
Yeah. It’s a reference to a bit in Kid Icarus Uprising. In one of the chapters, Palutena is forced to disengage her flying miracle, causing him to start plummeting to the ground. While he’s falling, he yells “Mayday! Mayday! This looks like the end! I never learned how to REEEEAD!” So they put that line in Smash for his Star KO line, because it’s similarly a line where he’s falling for long enough to yell something.
I do think Jacob’s biggest weakness in this game is his cockiness. I feel like that’s what keeps him being a relatively average competitive/items player, every time he does alright he acts like he’s invincible. He’s like the real life Pit: mid tier with an Icarus complex
I do think Jacob’s biggest strength is his comedic timing. I feel like that’s what keeps him being a relatively popular RU-vidr/content creator. Every time he does a punchline he feels like he’s a god. He’s like the real life Incineroar: low tier with some strong one liners.
13:00 The most confusing "Online SD" I've seen. As best I can tell the axe hits the Bomb Jacob is holding. So it counted as self damage to Jacob. Then when he blows up by the active bomb-ombs it counts as an SD meaning Jacob loses two stocks. Therefore Jacob was hit and died at 100 damage and the game for some reason still counted it as an SD. Which isn't how that should have worked at all, but whatever Sakurai decided to punish Jacob, I guess.
@@chopperbrosadvance9760 Unfortunately, Mewtwo doesn't have a shiny alt. In Melee, he did have a green alt, but now the closest thing he has is a yellow one.
Actually he’s not 6'8, he’s in a plane of existence in which height does not exist. He only takes the form of a tall human for us feeble minds to be able to get even close to comprehending him.
arent mc blocks 1 meter? and 2 meters is around 3 feet? and steve is slightly shorter than 2 blocks? which means steve is just 6 feet talm? where did you get this info from
i think the "never learned how to read" quote is just because the scene it's from in KIU also has Pit freefalling and spinning like in his star KO. it's that simple
Hey Jacob! Wow! Great timing on an uplaod! I just went to the 7 eleven with my dad to get a snack! Now I can eat it to an awesome video :D (I got a donut and chocolate milk if you were wondering) Edit: I love chocolate milk
58:11 the only times you roll an R in Spanish is when there are 2 R’s next to each other. For example. Perro (dog), burrito, carro (car), cigarro (cigarette), etc. When it’s 1 R you pronounce it as Ere (likes eres But without the s). An example of that is Pero (But) (Also many new Spanish learners confuse that with dog because it’s somewhat spelled similarly but without 1 R). Another example is cero (zero). Vaquero (cowboy), etc. Can be confusing but it’s actually really simple Edit: just like the bottom comment says, there are exceptions. Just like @Mellow said, some words/names like Ricardo break that rule, but for the most part in Español Latino (Latin Spanish) (I think what it’s called in English, idk I call it Mexican Spanish)
@@mellow6268 yeah that’s true. A name like Ricardo is weird since you have to roll the r, but also notice how the examples I gave like cero, pero and vaquero all have an e before the single r. Meanwhile the other words like burrito, and carro don’t. But it’s just like you said. It’s inconsistent, but for the most part that’s the rule of the R.
@@eroraf8637 yeah you’re right. An example of that is when someone says “Recuérdame de decirle al maestro que se le olvidó la tarea de ayer” (Remind me to tell the teacher that he forgot yesterday’s homework). In that sentence you roll all your R’s except tarea (homework). It’s really weird how hard Spanish can be, but once you know what R rolls and which one doesn’t, a lot of words are easier to pronounce.
Yooo!!! I was the Gannondorf. Sorry for not SD'ing I am also getting everyone into elite smash and didn't want to play Gannon any longer than I had to, also I wanted the extra content. I love the channels man!
In response to the “I never learned how to read” thing, Pit says that in a moment of the game where he is plummeting to his death after Five Minute Flight is over. Since the circumstances are kinda similar with him falling, it makes some sense
as a metal gear fan, yeah the series aged very well, even the somewhat clunky gameplay of mgs1 and 2 is still pretty good. If any of yall wants to play the series, just go for the Legacy Collection on PS3, it includes MGS1, 2, 3, 4, and peace walker (which yes, despite originally being a PSP game, is canon and very important to the plot) as well as the two MSX2 games, plus it has some extra fancy "VR Missions" for MGS2 which is fun extra content. Honestly as for the order to play them in, release order is fine, as is chronological. There's another PS3 collection, the HD collection, although that one lacks the MSX2 games as well as 4. Some extra notes: - the wiki is your friend. Kojima's storytelling is very much based on details, and he likes to hide those details in cutscenes, dialogue, and symbolism. Sometimes things have different names, they change names, or many things have the same name. Sometimes that's the case for characters. The wiki will give you all the explanations you need. And there's a lot of explanations. On top of that, if you have a metal gear fan friend, ask them, they'll know what to tell you to clear things up without spoiling things like the wiki might. - yes, the MSX2 games are very important, although the lore in them is a bit outdated in comparison to the final product. without them, there would nearly be zero context for what happens between the year 1984 (MGS V) and 2005 (MGS1), which is where all the plot unravels and kicks the events of MGS1/2/4 into motion. - the timeline is as follows: 3->PW->Ground Zeroes->V->MG1->MG2->Solid 1->Solid 2->4. - MGS V is a bit incomplete in terms of plot and missions, and some details have been changed in it in comparison to how the story truly was, given that it was made to merge the story of Peace Walker back with the MSX2 games, and that part of the story is, I'll be honest, a hot mess of spaghetti to justify a couple choices Kojima made back in the MSX2 games. - yes, Revengeance is technically canon. like, it fits perfectly at the end of the franchise. You don't have to play it, as the name suggests the Solid storyline ends with MGS 4. but it is a cool "what if but actually it is" continuation of the story. either way have fun with the series if any of you play it, and keep up the great content :) - a metal gear and kingdom hearts fan (maybe i have a problem with liking overcomplicated plots lmao)
The Viva Pinata demo (where you can go up to level 10) was on the Arcade Disk. It came with my XBox 360, so I suspect it came with most, if not all XBox 360s on release. Pretty much means everyone with an XBox 360 got a chance to play Viva Pinata. And it's Viva Pinata, of course everyone's gonna buy the game after they finish that demo.
Honestly I agree you are the consistency in my life that I need like like anything can happen the apocalypse could happen and you guys would come here and try to get Daisy in elite smash
Video 433 of asking for Super Paper Mario. Pretty wild who they just made a game with inspiration from that story. Yeah, can’t wait for that new Trojan horse game to drop
1:02:40 The context of the quote in the original game is that he's screaming it before he presumes he's going to die. It's basically his last regret. Y'know kinda like "I can't die yet! There's so much stuff I need to do! I never learned how to read!"
I can't believe i heard Sly Cooper mentioned in an Alpharad video. I am so fucking excited right now Sly has been my life for the last few years and my entire childhood. Much love from the Sly speedrun community
Altrive be like ''lmao this one time josh ranted that he was bleeding to death and was in great pain'' to which Jo worryingly says ''Wait what?'' ''Lmao so he got hit by this truck right, and he flew so far and was begging me to call the ambulance'' Altrive explains further. ''But you did call an ambulance right?'' Jacob asks, to which Altrive replies with ''No lmao it was too funny I couldn't stop laughing, his rants are the best''. ''Bro is he okay?'' Jo asks with a big worry (just a huge worry) in his voice. ''aaaa this hurts a billion times more than you could ever imagine aaa'' Altrive says in a high pitched mimicking voice, ''And to that I was like uhhhmmm a billion is a lot tho''. ''Trueee thooo a billion is a lot'' says Jo in a joyful agreeing voice, to which Jacob replies ''Yeah''. Just like that they seem less the wiser. Altrive wipes the sweat off his forehead with his Hatsune Miku towel, they don't know. Lmao like if you also think that this is LITERALLY Altrive
