Siberia was spared the worse of the ice age, the North Pole seemed to be centered on Hudson Bay, where ice was 2 miles thick. But there was no ice in Siberia. A good explanation would be that Siberia was 30 degrees further south until the end of the Ice Age, when there was a shift of land mass. It was a big event. Wiped out the mammoths, mastodons, saber toothed tigers and many others overnight. Exact same time, 11,600 yrs ago, that Plato gave for Atlantean destruction.

Grimaldi, modern man, enters Europe @ 40,000 years ago. ANY notice of Artistic finds, based upon what was discussed here, could have been attributed to them. Modern man, in the form of what today is called the Caucasian, begins to emerge between @ 25,000 to 20,000 BCE. Thus the difference in artistic display. No mention that the 40,000 BCE figurines display fat distribution similar to AFRICAN women. No mention of the 43,000 BCE iron smelting mines or 20,000 BCE Garamund ART in Africa.

Even if that 1949 book weren't full of problems (as the reviews of it I found indicate), it still only speculates about bronze-age societies, which are at most about 5000 years old. Hardly a valid reference for something 40,000 years old, from a society which no one can legitimately pontificate on. Beyond that, you may want to look up what a split infinitive is. It's not a valid grammar complaint in English, but it does have a definition, which bears no resemblance to your odd "criticism".

It is an unproven and pop culture assumption that the 45,000 year old Hohle Fels flute (Higham, 2012) is a music technology, when worldwide ethnographic studies of ancient, and even more modern primitive cultures demonstrate that technologies commonly considered to be musical, are in fact linguistic communication devices. The Benčnon tone language of Ethiopia can be whistled with the lips, whistled with the hands, and plucked on a 5 string instrument (the Krar). For those who are uninitiated, listening to the Benčnon language being communicated via the Krar would be perceived to sound like music, though it is not. In more recent history, the Aztecs were clearly communicating language through what were perceived by the original Western ethnographers to be musical instruments such as the Huehuetl and Teponaztli. The Huehuetl was defined by the two vowels (i) and (o) of the Náhuatl language, and the Teponaztli was defined by the consonants (t) and (k). This is one reason why no Aztec music was ever transcribed into Western notation, because the music notation was not capable of capturing the advanced linguistic sound component, and was mystifying to the ethnographers. In ancient India, the 7 swaras (pitches) of the Indian scale were also the sound of the akshara vowels, and the consonants were defined through duration patterns of the tala. The concept of music is then very intertwined with the concept of whistled speech where vowels and consonants are defined through pitch and duration. These are but a few examples. It then seems very unlikely that a 45,000 year old 'flute-like' device would magically be a musical instrument, separate from language communication, when historical and archaeological evidence from the past few thousand years to the present of cultures across the globe points to a very different interpretation.

"Something was going on, something special". No. Its called cold winters and enforced sedentarism. You're stuck in your cave and itchin to do something. So you whittle with what's on hand. You have time every winter to keep working on stuff. People like it and imbue it with meaning. So you make more and trade for other stuff. People in your cave see the benefits of you whittling and stop bitching about your hobby. Maybe they try it too. Thousands of years later, there's some polished peices and some crappy pieces that survive.
