As someone who has pinecone in her backyard, they do that cuz the moisture returns. They puff(heh) out due to cold and dry Temps but if they get moisture, they stay closed by the time they fall. I noticed when the pinecone above my hottub outside would fall closed while the ones away from my hottub would fall open and spread like that. To spread their seeds in drier climates
@@akankshyadas7001it’s called nano tape. There is a plastic film to protect the stickiness, and then you peel the film off. It is very stretchy and sticky.

We did it in class, I remember you have to get the fuzzy material shown in the video and tie it to a plastic straw. then you have to leave it in borax in the fridge or not for 24 hours then it’s done. sorry if it’s confusing!!
