The reason I watch all of this channel's videos during the travel within Indonesia is that Dale kept in touch with local people all the way he went which is very interesting to me.. 😆

4:49 That's a "Grave Monument" (Tugu Kubur) or the latest grave for Batak ethnic peoples. In Batak ethnic traditions, the Batak peoples usually doing a ritual of "Digging Bones" (Mangongkal Holi) on their family members. The ritual of "Digging Bones" is digging the "conventional grave" (soil grave) of their family members that was burried approximately 5 - 15 years. After they collected their family bones from the conventional grave, they will conduct some ritual tradition and prays. Then they will took the bones and put the bones into the Grave Monument, where the bones will stay there forever. One hole of Grave Monument usually for a couple husband and wife (if had married). Different level of stairs will belongs to different generations. The higher stair level the bones were stay, the older generation they are. So, when you saw 5 levels of stairs it means you just saw 5 genererations of one family in it. This ritual is not only to respect their parents or anchestors of each family surenames, but also a guidance so the grandchildrens/descendants could know their bloodline was came from. This ritual is almost same like the Jewish did in Joshua 24:32, however the ritual already conducted by Batak peoples long time before the Christianity was brought by a German named Ludwig Ingwer Nommensen in 1862 into this land. Some says Batak peoples are Jewish decendants (The Ephraims), because lot of similar traditions. However the results of DNA test on three Batak peoples is different with Jewish DNA. So no one knows until now when this ritual of "Digging Bones" and "Grave Monument" was began. *So to answer your questions:* 1. View point for tourist? >> No, that's a grave monument. 2. Memorial? >> Yes, for family members. 3. To use for free? >> Yes, if the gate opened but with respect. 4. Named your name in the relief? >> Yes, if your bones in there. 😂

This waterfall used to be known as the Sosor Dolok waterfall by the local community ... it was named Efrata waterfall by one of the European tourists who had visited there ... European tourists also introduced this Efrata waterfall to the outside world.

so dude, this might be a tips for you. don't ever use your front (right grip) break in a dusty or sandy road.
