The Arctic Ocean is largely covered in sea ice year-round. However, according to projections the sea ice will melt in its entirety in 2030s because of the human caused climate change. Without its warmth reflecting ice cover, the Arctic Ocean will begin to warm even faster. This will have tremendous effects on the fragile arctic ecosystems and local climate. Numerous endangered species will go extinct and these changes will affect the lives of us humans on local and global scale.
What remains of the Arctic Ocean when it sheds its last sea ice? An Ocean?
