Hey Blaine, this is a great video. The sight of all the slab perch brings a tear to my eye... "WHY OH WHY CAN'T THIS BE ME!?!?!!!??" Looks like a lot of fun; and a freezer full of good fish, to boot. Thanks for posting this.

Ice fishing at its best....when you find where the perch are then the fun starts...I wish we had crappies and bass here in Finland too...

Yep, here too... 61 degrees here on Wednesday. Lost a ton of ice. The river where most of my videos are shot is coming up 10 feet over the next 2 days. It's gonna be a while before i can get back out locally again.

Heard lots about it... Someday I hope to travel a bit to ice fish. No offence. but when I do, my first stop will be Lake Winnipeg. Here in CT, we have our share of giant pan fish. I run a tourney out of the shop I manage and it takes at least a 15" perch or a 17 1/2" crappie to win every year.

Have you ever heard of Lake Gogebic? that lake has pigs for perch in it, this is a peak year and many 2 plus pound perch by the dozens and thats not exaggerating and 14 to 17 inch crappies if you can find them...They have a perch tourney the 1st week of March every year called the hogathon, biggest perch takes a grand...if you want some info let me no, I live right by the lake...

By the way they aren't fishing on a lake. The discription clearly says they're on a cove in the Connecticut river. Probably weathersfield cove but I could be wrong. So it's not like they are fishing out a pond or lake. There are tons of panfish in the CT river and it's tributaries.

Yeah, I'm learning a little more with each video I put up. The audio that day sucked, so I figured it was best to cover it up with music. What's the old saying? You can't make chicken soup out of chicken $hit???

Tony tha killa... Those of us who fish for the pot (for food) are keep as many as we can clean and store (so long as they are legal, of course). I personally think it is stupid and cruel to engage in intentional catch and release fishing, that's just hurting the fish for fun.

Really people?!? Perch spawn extremely well. These guys are guides. If they're fishing out 42 fish in a lake with better than 15000 perch on a bad spawn season. Deal with the fact that people eat meat. Get off of your high horses and enjoy the fact that these guys are a small business making ends meet. Good on you gentlemen for being outdoorsman!

It's a Glidelite from Strikemaster that I modified. Nice little sled when you want to stay mobile... I can't post a photo in a reply here but if you go to my site: fishingct. com, go the gallery, select ice fishing, then the album for the '10-'11 season and go to page 3 there are plenty of pictures there.

Here in CT, we have no limits on perch and crappie. Generally, I take only what I'm going to eat for a couple of meals. In this video, we were stocking up for a fish fry at a kids ice fishing event...

LSC sure isn't what it use to be. I remember the good old days in the 90's. I remember getting 3 man limits of 13" fish. I was on the fish a couple of years ago and some jack ass posted it on Michigan Sportsman. It was at metro beach. I went the next day and the lady working the booth said she had 800 people come in that day. It was a god damn circus.
@4589scott
@4589scott 6 лет назад
Augers don't scare those fish on LSC. And you never got a limit of 13" fish, let alone 3, assclown! All the "13in fish" are in reality 10".

well when every fish is a keeper why not keep your limit and no it does not send a bad message it sends a bad message when your keeping croppies that are only 7 inches not when your keeping your limit of nice croppies n perch

Why you leave fish suffocate on the ice?! Why you do not kill fish when you got them? You are causing unnecessary suffering to the fish if you do not kill then immediately after catching. Gills and eyes of the fish dry fast after fish are out of the water. It is causing pain to the fish. It is small effort to kill fish soon as possible after catching them. All fish that are caught for eating must be handled carefully to reduce stress and humanely killed as soon as possible after capture. Humane killing requires that the fish is stunned (rendered instantaneously insensible) before being bled out. Percussive stunning involves a forceful and accurate blow to the head with a blunt instrument. The force required will depend on the size of the fish. The blow should be aimed just above the eyes to impact on the brain. The effectiveness of the stun should be checked and another blow applied if the fish is not unconscious. After stunning the fish should be bled out by cutting the gill rakers or, with larger fish, a main artery. With the very small fish breaking the neck is good way to kill. Just put your thumb or other finger to the mouth of the fish and quickly make a move upwards. Tight lines!

Mester Ohou They are just fish lol
@mesterohou9727
@mesterohou9727 7 лет назад
Dillon Nott What you mean by saying that they are just a fish? Now we are living 2016 and it has been clear several years that fish also feel pain same way as humans do and they suffer. And this information is intelligible because fish are also vertebrate and pain is important for surviving. Check out the science my friend. Most of the researchers are saying that fish also feel pain. For example google: " fish experience pain same way as humans do" or check out the researcher and professor Column Brown.
@mesterohou9727
@mesterohou9727 7 лет назад
Dillon Nott And by the way if you let the fish suffocate or you bleed it out without stunning or killing it or you do something else which causes unnecessary suffering, pain and stress it will have effect to the taste and keeping quality of the meat. This is because of stress hormone.
@mesterohou9727
@mesterohou9727 7 лет назад
Dillon Nott I am not saying that a fish a human. I am saying that fish feel pain also. Why you want to cause unnecessary suffering to other living being? Unnecessary suffering and pain is easy to avoid. Just kill the fish proper way when you got it. Have you ever heard about empathy? Real pussy is a person who do harm to others and cause suffering to other creatures which can not harm you. Like a fish which is dying that you can eat. Least what you can do is not to torture that living being.
@mesterohou9727
@mesterohou9727 7 лет назад
About the taste, I have noticed the difference. And there is also scientific evidence from many sources that stress will have effect to the taste and keeping quality of the meat of the fish. Killing the fish proper way and as soon as possible is a good "deal" in both ways. So why not to do so?
