Once we got out on the ice and sank down into that slush, we knew mobility would be limited for anyone on the lake. We're bound to cross paths eventually. 👍

I disagree completely. They are lab-created novelty fish and can only (rarely) occur in nature when a non-native species (brown trout) find the perfect conditions to do so (with eastern brook trout). They are a management tool to help control bait fish populations and are encouraged to be kept in watersheds where native cutthroat are present. Here in Utah, they are stocked heavily throughout the state, and harvest is absolutely part of those management plans. Furthermore, the only reason any of us participates in angling activities is because our ancestors saw food in the water. Let's not forget that fact. I recognize and embrace that ancient connection, and I enjoy eating food that isn't loaded with hormones, chemicals, or food coloring. But by all means, if you choose to release them, that's perfectly fine as well.
