Ice Fishing for Pike has Begun!! 

Refreshing to see a pike video again. Especially with the aqua vu footage. And no livescope. Every video on RU-vid right now seems to be just livescope footage. Sometimes it is great, but not every video. I love this style of video

Boy a person should have a ring tone of that line peeling off that reel. What a great sound. I think everyone feels a few years younger when your fighting a nice size fish.

Clayton, maybe get a second pair of glasses and leave them in the warm shack. When you come in from the cold take the fogged ones off and put on the warm ones, it might help.

Interesting to see how fish react to bait. It’s like they swim up and look at it, and wonder why isn’t it trying to flee. Seen one of jays underwater videos of walleye doing the same thing. Great content, keep ‘em coming.

Hi clayton just want to ask which rod shoud we use to troll a suffix leadcore Because i bought a okuma convector low profile reel to troll in open water for waleye, fall bass and nomale size lake trout 5- 12 pound! I saw your video couples months ago about this kind of fishing but i cant remember what you said about Rod !. sorry for my english im french canadian !

Ohhhh you Manitobans,,,,,,, 😂😂. Calling a 28” pike small,,,,,,. 😮😮 Sheesh!! Hahaha. I’m in Southern/Central Alberta and that kind of fishing is rare,,, there’s some great spots, but we don’t exactly talk about them!! A group of us travel to Manitoba every once in a while and stay around Russell or Roblin. We fish primarily for trout, but I showed them that there’s some big pike that you can catch on a fly rod too!! First time we were fishing Patterson & Tokarik lakes. Went over to Sandy Lake and to the north end around an island there.we caught 11 pike while circling that island, all with 8 weight fly rods, 36” to 40” long. The first one, and my buddies were suddenly excited about pike fishing!! That was only the 36” fish, smallest that day!! She flushed out 3 or 4 others while fighting her, all decent fish. A local told us we were lying when we told him about our luck as we were pulling our small single person Jon boats and inflatables 7.5 to 10 ft long. He said they were not that big until ice fishing and we were better off targeting walleyes. Then we showed him the pictures since he was being a bit rude. He actually apologized. Said he was going to get his fly rod and tie up some flys. We all gave him one or 2 each so he had 8 or 10 flies from the 6 of us! 😂😂. We didn’t go back to that lake that year,,,, I bet he was out there that same day!! 😂😂. We then went and got some very nice perch out of Shoal lake for a fish fry that evening. The smallest there are like our biggest here!! Hahaha,,, really!! I should have been born THERE, in Manitoba!! Hahaha. Never tries fishing for catfish there yet. We don’t have em here.

I’ve caught some walleyes that were more blue than green/gold, was a few years ago and never caught one since but that day we got 2 that were super blue it was odd for sure
