Ever since Aquemini Andre has been his own person rapping. Aquemini marked a HUGE difference in what the two of them were rapping about, IMHO. Ice is out of his mind thinking Andre hasn't given us whole albums already. Andre and Big Boi are GOAT'd together as Outkast and on their own.

It’s better for you to say “it’s just not for me” I don’t think LL, Redman, or Rakim are making music for younger demographic specifically, they know that people don’t want hear it. Hell there kids or grand kids probably feels like you. We get it. There is dam near an audience for everyone. There space for Nas, B Daddy Kane, J Cole, Lil Pump, Ice Spice, Tyler The Creator, Lil Baby etc etc. they from all different eras. They can all exist in the same time. Whether the music is good or not is subjective.

I have a friend who is an amazing artist . Got scholarships to go to the Art institute and everything. He just stopped . I couldn’t understand so I asked bro why . He said it wasn’t in him anymore. To this day that man has never drawn anything. People have their reasons . You gotta respect it .

You are talking about a Grammy winning, diamond selling / multi platinum artist that damn near all of the industry elite would jump in line to work with. I think that's part of it...but that probably will never go away as long as he is in the public eye. Hence why he has stayed out the limelight. I think he is in a artistic funk and searching for new inspiration hence the flute project. He's always been a eccentric and eclectic guy. His introspection and honesty thru his bars is a gift but it does require a willingness and a passion to deliver. When he finds that cause or reason we will get those bars, but outkast blessed the game enough 🙏.
Love Below is packaged as 1/2 of an Outkast album, but Big Boi is only on one of the songs. That’s 3000’s solo project. You can listen to the whole project without playing Speakerboxx (at the time anyway since they were two separate cds, but even then with iPods I guess one would play after the other). But nah, that shouldn’t be called an Outkast album from a musical standpoint when he only allowed Big Boi to be on one track.
I never understand how people are still having this conversation. His only solo album came out 20 years ago & there’s only 1 rapped verse on it lmfao. Ice…Keeping it a double album was a favor/plus for Big Boi. Speakerbox was NO WAY NEAR as good as The Love Below. They BOTH decided to do that so they BOTH can share in the full success WHILE ALLOWING each one of them to be authentically themselves and grow in the direction they wanted to WITHOUT breaking up the Outcast group that we love so much. That was BRILLIANT on their part and it was very separate in my opinion.

No it's NOT a solo album until it is marketed and sold as a SOLO album. Public perception shapes history and if you think people will look back on that double album as a Andre 3000 solo body of work you aren't even being honest with yourself. Same reason Black Thought had to finally cut the bullshit and put a project out with his name on it.
Marketing wise, it's not a solo album. But, in terms of, "I can craft a body of work that is just me," yes it's a solo album. Unless the argument is "can you put out a very successful solo album?" He doesn't NEED to put out anything else. He's already proven he can craft a body of work, double digit songs (enough for an album), and lead it all himself and it be amazing.
Joe deserves more props as an MC. Back in 2006 XM Satellite Radio wouldn't stop playing his Dumb Out track off Mood Muzik. He murdered that Last Dayz freestyle and Halfway House is a dope album. "Mixtape Weezy" was marketable for sure in those days but if we're just talking about rapping Joe was running on cruise control. And had the radio and barbershops on the east coast. He could pull a Killer Mike if he really wanted to.

Just because you can spit a fire verse that don't mean you can make a great rap album. I feel like Big Boy has been disrespected for decades on his contributions to song creation on every Outkast album.
The thing is, I think he does care. Andre is mad sensitive about his work. That's part of the reason he won't drop an album. Lol And this isn't just me talking, he's repeatedly said that in interviews. He's said that he's scared that it won't hold up to his expectations or the hype that people have for him. You can even hear that in his features where he makes reference to it, or in his old verses where his biggest fear was becoming a bad rapper or falling off. Andre is was a creative genius who's creativity and lyricism will stand the rest of time. Big Boi is a legend and that can't be argued however he might have become a legend or as big of a legend if he came out as a solo artist. His voice, style lyricism and overall artistry is common. Andre stands out.

‘The Love Below’ gave way to ‘808’s & Heartbreaks’ and then came the Drakes, the Childish Gambinos, Tyler and OF and that style we see a lot of artists doing today. Thats about as impactful as it gets.

I've always held them on the same plateu as different sides of the same coin. My top 5 personally. Style, flow, lyricism, etc. are unmatched. Also, 3k don't owe us a damn thing! Yall "rap purist" always moving goal posts for rappers. Just appreciate the great music he gave us!

At this point, I don’t even think his fans really have any expectations- we just want to hear his voice. It’s unfortunate that he doesn’t have it in him. But it almost feels on brand.
