Jonathon Baez shamefully, same here. haha. Funny story about this game, I couldn't play it - I borrowed it off a friend and it was the NTSC version, I had a PAL console in Australia. I remember calling him on the phone and he said I had to keep pressing the reset button and it will eventually work. Well somehow it eventually did work and I managed to play it. It must have bypassed the NES10 chip somehow on some power up fluke. Anyway years later I understand what was going on, back then I was a 5 year old kid who was crying to mum because it wouldn't work. Funny memories.
Why arent game of today this fun? The game was so simple, graphics so minor yet the gameplay is still amazing to this day! NES games still are today and have some amazing music
Cuz today's hockey games focus on Graphics, Commentators different modes etc. They need to focus on gameplay because it's hard to score. While this you'll score more often.
If I've said it once, I've said it 47 times: To win, you need two fats, a medium, and a skinny. Take Alabama for example. On their last FG attempt today, they had all fats and did not have the speed to keep up with Auburn. And that's why they lost. Remember kids, TWO FATS, ONE MEDIUM, + ONE SKINNY = IMMORTALITY
@@waheedo2635 I respectfully disagree. One thing I think we can both agree on, is Nintendo should revive this game the way they did excitebike on Wii and barely change it and make it online.
On my first games when the rents bought me my first nes. Many great games with friends were had. Ended up hunting down a complete in box copy with all the inserts...still one my favorites
This was My first Nes Game. I purchased it solely for it’s replay ability, from Caldors as dropping 50 bucks on games anytime I wanted wasn’t on the agenda as a little kid. I’ll never forget how geeked and happy I was. 🥳
Ice Hockey is still probably one of the better hockey games on the NES. It may not be as realistic as Blades of Steel, but it's more challenging. Playing against the computer feels too random at times, but against another human this game is a great way to just goof off and have fun.
That was the best game of hockey I've ever seen since the 90s (and I was born in Canada). EDIT: Just to be clear, I'm not even being sarcastic (sadly).
Last year at Nintendo World I saw a little competition of Ice Hockey between a guy and a girl, and it was a blowout win for the girl, 11-1, which I thought was quite entertaining...
Oh la la, this reminds me of my tender youth. Yes I am forty four now. But I still play it from time to time serious to an emulator. It's still good, and I still love it.
I also own Blades of Steel but to me Ice Hockey is more fun. We can choose different type of characters depending of our strategy and the gameplay, although very simple, is less repetitive than Blades of Steel who just consist to grab the puck and rush to the net of our opponent again and again, although the fighting was fun. Funny fact: Ice Hockey was made by Nintendo EAD, the same team that bought us the Super Mario Bros, Mario Kart, Zelda: a Link to the Past.
Had both this game and blades of steel before the ea sport nhl,s came out and i know everyone rants about blades of steel and I did love blade too i also loved this game just as much
Facing 2 starters, an 8.1pt deficit, and down to my last player in the last game of this weeks H2H matchup it looked pretty bleak for my international hockey fantasy league team. But even the additional 20.6pts my opponent got: 11.6 from USAs Skinny (4SOG 1PPP 1G) & 9 from USSRs Goalie (20SVs 1GA) wasn't enough after this MONSTER 32.2pt game by USAs Goalie (37SVs SO W), winning the week in a 3.5pt squeaker after a HUGE comeback.
I remember there was a code for a super puck were u would shoot and it would just bounce off the boards and everywhere like crazy .also what a performance by the USA goalie Jim Craig with a 1 to 0 shutout I believe the goal came on a 4 on 2 powerplay lol
I love how the four offensive US players are celebrating and dont include their goalie. Other than one goal (with a 4 on 2 advantage) the U.S. had an anemic offense. Thank God for their goalie.
