I mean, all of the songs from Every Trick in the Book are mostly based off of old horror stories, but them basing one off Ann Frank was a good idea. Also, the line "These are the words that set me free" hits very differently when you know how her story ends...

The name of the song is a reference to the Diary of Anne Frank of course, but it is also a reference to another INK song, "The People Under the Stairs", which is from their second album, "Safe is Just a Shadow". That song was based on WWII and the music video based on the films "The People Under the Stairs" and "Inglorious Basterds".

The lines “You’re hiding enemies of the state, are you not?” “Yes” “Take me to them” always gives me chills. This song is amazing, much as all the others on this album. INK really is such an underrated band. I think their themes and overall sound is really unique.

Not gonna lie this song brought a tear to the eye. It's so sad that such a beautiful young girl suffered such a tragic fate for the simple fact of being a Jew. This song definitely shows Anne franks desperation in her two years of hiding and I can't help imagining when the chorus comes in for the last time Anne sitting on the back of a truck being driven away to her fate. Truly bullsy amazing song. Good job

Okay, so I looked up the lyrics to this song since it was my first time listening to it, and i think that they interpreted this song so well to fit not only the story of Anne Frank, but the anxieties we now face whether it be discriminatory or social isolation related. I personally enjoyed the lyrics "We’re alive yet deprived and alone but never on our own" they definitely helped me get the whole message of the song through, and I appreciate this song on a whole new level now.

so the only difference between these two videos versus the one they released yesterday is they took the dialogue away but only for the intro on both songs. Still fucking epic guys. So I'm gonna go and marry this album. well I'm gonna marry them all. fuck it. I'll be polygamist for INK's albums. not a song I haven't loved yet. JD'S high screams. Spencer's low and mid screams and his vocals. Holy fuck. No better combination.

+king charlie Originally there was some audio of Anne Frank diary quotes in the intro and right at 2:34 (before the dialogue/breakdown starts) which they probably removed due to copyright claims. If you listen to the Spotify version of the album they're still there.
