ICE-RAVAGED Britain is set for another 10 inches of snow today as temperatures drop to -18C.
Towns could become “cut off” as Storm Darcy wreaks havoc across the UK - with travel chaos expected.
Storm Darcy - dubbed the 'Beast from the East II' - has brought howling blizzards from Russia to the UK, with swathes of the country experiencing heavy snowfall yesterday.
A yellow weather warning for snow remains in place across Britain until midnight on Wednesday, with the Met Office warning “frequent snow showers may lead to travel disruption in places”.
The alert covers most of the south east of England, as well as the Midlands, the North East and most of Scotland.
Health chiefs have also issued a cold weather alert for the whole of the country, saying the chill could have "a serious impact on health".
A separate amber weather warning covers central parts of Scotland today, with up to 10 inches of snow forecast.
And temperatures are expected to plummet below 0C for most of the UK overnight.
Parts of Scotland reached as low as nearly -18C on Monday night as the country caught the brunt of the storm.
Bus and rail travel has been disrupted with an amber weather warning in place for much of the central belt until 9pm.

Not here on the south east coast. There's a good 9 or ten inches on my car roof. The roads are now starting to clear but they were horrendous last night.

I live in Norway - just south of Oslo. I've been here since 2005. This is the first year that we didn't have snow on the ground in the beginning of November. It arrived in the beginning of January, and even then the amount of snow that we have had is a joke. Barely 20 centimetres so far. Before 2010 a couple of metres throughout the winter was pretty usual. These days, we're more likely to have rain than snow through the winter. So, yes. This winter has been pretty warm so far. :p

@@LordFlashheart.11 That's the main thing mate, no injuries. I'm not a Tesla fan and most people tell me I'm a "hater". (Good old social media, everything MUST have a name.) I see them as over priced, badly built and the only saving grace is a fantastic charging network. Model S looks pretty good otherwise no thanks.

Not seen a bad winter since the late 80's,and as a nipper in the 70's we did have to dig our selves out of the house and have a proper winter months on end,and I still went to school in a freezing class room with the play ground an ice rink ;)

Surely she’s never been to Poland😂 -25 degrees this year, thank God I moved out years ago haha. The temperatures during the winter actually got much lower during the last four years in there. The coldest winter I ever experienced in there was -22 degrees and that was 15 years ago. That explains why Greta thinks there’s no winter anymore, clearly she’s not been around long enough to get through different temperatures that can reappear after a decade or two.

Nobody heard of winter anymore,the snow we get now is nothing compared to winters in 70's and 80's.people would find they had parked their cars on walls back then,several feet of snow,not a couple of inches😂🥶

@@x66Hawk66x Well yes, i am an expert, because i use verified scientific instruments, like a ruler, that works well in instances like this. Not only that, i qualified from school in maths, tech drawing and other subjects that involve distance and measurements, so yes, i am qualified thank you. Also also, working in engineering isn't for everyone, you need to work to tollerances of a fraction of a fraction of a mm, so yes, i understand distances, measurements and am still qualified. Thanks for asking though :) It's so simple, even a non expert can try it. No-one has to believe me, in fact, i challenge everyone not to believe me, and go out and try it themselves. This is an experiment that anyone can do, and it won't cause harm, unless you fall over, so just bear that in mind, and stay as safe as you can. Get any standard ruler, you can even buy them from ASDA, tesco, pretty much any hardware ironmongery shop, stationary department, or D.I.Y store. Put the end closest to 0 on the ground, and measure how much is there. Take measurement....done. That's it, you completed module 1 of basic maths...lol. Come back when you found 10 inches, that 25.4 cm, or about 254 mm. As a reference, 10" is closer to half way up that car wheel, from the ground. Not quite half way up, but close.

@@x66Hawk66x To be fair, i have not been to every square inch of the UK, nor have i been to any other country and visited every square inch of visable landmass. So, you have a valid point there. However, when judging distances, and measurements, it is highly obvious, there is not even remotely 10" of anything there, let alone snow. I have seen snowdrifts, taller than myself, and i'm 6', the average door is 7', hence our ability to walk through doorways. Now, imagine 1 seventh of a doorway. That is one foot (roughly, since not all doorways are equal). I know it's not easy to imagine, since imagination is a rare ability today, same as common sense, not so common now. What's even worse, is i can't believe i'm argueing over what is 10" and what isn't...on youtube...lol. If no-one can tell the difference, then i have no hope for humanity or the future, certainly not for any future engineers..lol

@@x66Hawk66x I have no doubt that somewhere, there is 10" of snow. then showing us far less is a bit missleading. Still, anything to make something far more dangerous or fearsome than it is, that's not reporting news, it's manufacturing news. Then again, if an area of snow, was melted down, and put into a beaker, it might be 10", but if they going to change the physics of measurements, then people are going to get confused. Wouldn't be so bad, but some people might actually believe it, and that's far more dangerous. We are certainly in a wierd time in history.

I doubt any of this lot had winter tyres on. Until you try them, you won't believe how good they are. I have a set on my '80s Ford Granada and it got through everything that the 2018 Beast from the East could throw at it.

The climate engineers have been busy. Interesting fact, sulphur dioxide not only manipulates the weather but exposure also causes a loss of smell, among other things, which is 'coincidentally' a symptom attributed to covid. They have been spraying in China, Mexico and South Africa, no doubt other places as well.

Pathetic ! Anyone with any sense would leave their car at home - not sled down a slope with it hitting another car or rev your engine stupid in the hope you may move forward. What is obvious is people have lost the skill (or never had it) to drive in adverse weather conditions. Summer and sports tyres are useless in snow for starters - the simple answer is if you really must go out then sorry get up earlier and do it the old way as we did back in the day ! It’s called WALK ! That way you don’t bend your car, poo your pants, or put peoples lives at risk ! Plus it’s healthy exercise

That will happen every year and will be worst... Because of climate change. Hot water stream from America is disrupted by cold water melting from Greenland. Its mean that this mild climate which UK had for so long will be more continental. You can already see that. Last summer was very hot without rain. And also we got lot of storms. Golfstream is dying....
