Most likely J's dad was one of the bullies back when Rod was in school and Rod wanted revenge. But in my opinion Rod should have listened to his father when he said "Don't eat my special Ice cream" because then Rod would be just a normal ice cream man and not a killer one.

I actually thinked that same thing. However, I think that this is based to real life and in real life, you just want to get out as soon as possible and don't want to get caught and pushing your friends would make too much noise.

You can stay in the van infinitely. But if you take the story mode seriously. You can see as soon you get out of the van with the ingredient. Rod starts his van and leaves as soon as possible. So, if J took time to push even one friend out. Only that friend will be rescued. Other friends will still be stuck because Rod will leave the neighbourhood as soon as possible because the people might see him and call the Cops. Or taking too much time, Rod will start his van and we'll also go with him to the factory.
