Plus, with social media, almost anyone can quickly become a musician…but it doesn’t necessarily mean they’re truly talented, creative, or artistic and have staying power. Honest has talked about how “artist development” from labels is a thing of the past, so they’re just raw dogging their career. And these musicians don’t have to work their way up anymore, so they don’t even build connections that would facilitate working w/ the folks behind the scenes (i.e. producers, engineers, & songwriters)
Because labels and “artists” themselves don’t invest in artist development, and most are manufactured and think they can skate by serving the same meal and not switching up the menu, like no! We bored.

Ice Spice’s rise to her current level of popularity despite her mediocrity is entirely due to her branding/image. she’s extremely distinct, and even her appearance alone grabs your attention. however, if she doesn’t step up her music game, I don’t see her lasting much longer… meme material can only get you so far.
You could put her vocals from almost any song on any one of her instrumentals and it would fit perfectly with little to no editing that should tell you everything you need to know 😭

Take this as an example: Megan thee stallion's something for thee hotties (2021) and traumazine (2022) they both have different lyricism and Megan has shown in traumazine that she grew lyrically, she didn't just grow lyrically, she started to rap about different topics, i think ice spice should try to rap about different topics or try to grow lyrically, she has the potential but she isn't showing it
The issue with Megan is that people are not willing to listen to her. They call her a one-trick pony too because "she raps the same way in all her songs" however they only talk about her title tracks or songs that get popular. The biggest issue comes from the rap industry itself that doesn't allow female rappers to show nothing but their bodies.

You can’t write off the entire genre just because of the sexualization, because this applies to almost every genre. Many rockstars back in the day were just as terrible with drugs, sleeping around, alcoholism etc. Your daughter will probably be exposed to music like this regardless because of school/peers, so instead try to introduce her to female (and male) artists you like.

i think she might be aiming to become the jason derulo of this generation. Jason derulo makes some catchy songs and is talented but would you say he is uber famous and super relevant? not quite. He makes music that everyone knows though. Whether you know the artist or not, you know Talk Dirty, Swalla and Savage Love. With tiktok culture, he is making something like an earworm that even if you aren't a fan of him, you know the songs he made - whether organically or featuring. So i think she wants to perhaps go the same route? maybe. nothing too big, as long as she is heard in parties and clubs, thats it. To clarify, I am not comparing their talents. I am just comparing how they both might be happy with whatever publicity they get.
