I saw Ice Spice when she was opening for Doja Cat, and the crowds reaction to her doing the bare minimum was unbelievable. She did her same walk across the stage, point her finger, bend over and shake ass and they were living!! As someone who appreciates REAL performances the Beyonces, Brunos, Ushers. VICTORIA MONETS etc i just didnt understand the hype.

Ice has preschool level raps and no personality to make up for it. Like she’s actually very boring, being a baddie is her whole identity which is played out now. The only reason Saweetie made it as far as she did is cause she was a vibe, fun, ate quirky foods, and even though the performances are comical she keeps trying. Dating a Migo did help a bit. Also Saweetie never really picked a side in the Cardi and Nicki beef which I feel is important to note. Ice was being weird and shady with both of them and lost both fan bases. Now Ice is melting 🫠

Ice was fun and seemed like a lighthearted girl separate from the drama and then Latto happened and it changed her image. She’s no longer the fun alternative and right in the mess with the others. She’s better off avoiding drama and just going back to the cute, fun, happy image that worked.

here's the thing: Ice spice does drill music. Drill music has been poppin, but recently hype behind it has been decreasing. None of this girls can do drill like ice. We all knew when Munch got big that Ice Spice wasn't a lyricist. Similar to Sexyy Red, people listen to her simply because it's catchy or a good song to get hype to- and that's it. If you're expecting her to give you triple entendres in her songs then you're gonna be disappointed every time. It's okay to have music to listen to that's just fun or is background noise... that's what Ice Spice is.

I think the problem is that Ice Spice is TikTok era. All of the snippets for the songs leading up seem like she’s finally going to do something and then when they drop they’re all wanna be viral tracks that are 2 minutes or less. Beyoncé said it best, new artists don’t make albums. They just wanna chart or make the next viral song. I feel like Ice’s album is just going to sound like the same 3 songs on repeat.

that's because in our genreation, nicki is the queen of rap. She's the only rapper out right now that's still popular where you can say she has the talent, and the numbers to back up her title. And unless another female rapper comes out that's more talented than nicki, and has her type of reach I'll keep comparing the new rap girlies to her because she's the standard atm. That Annie wig literally got her in the door and the drill music bc they stood out on top of her look and complexion. She rode a couple coattails to the top and now the hype is over.
