Did you every hear of DJ Supreme and Hijack from the UK? Ice-T signed them to his label around 1991, just before Warner dropped him. You may enjoy this.. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ftzfsJyBpVM.html
@@prettytonybeezoe Lol, or you can expand your knowledge of hip hop with a back story, Mr QQ. Supreme was the first uzi scratcher and inspired Q-Bert and thousands of DJs with his techniques. Hijack was part of Rhyme Syndicate. DJ Supreme, Ice-T, Icepick from 2017... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Oa5lo7_cjx8.html
Ice T is a historian. Probably the first west coast artist that had love in the East. Could go on either coast without a problem. Ice cube could do the same even with jerri curl before west side connection.
That's because there was no media hyped east coast vs west coast beef aka Bad Boy vs Death Row. In the 1980s and early 1990s rappers from all over rarely had any issues while on tour or going to another city/coast.
@@PancakeDiaries Yeah so with Ice T it was different as while cool with Cube Ice T was closer to Run DMC days East side guy that was cool with people. I say that with respect just saying Ice T and Ice Cube are there own guys.
OG LA Player kickin the science. I remember he came to Lynwood High School to speak in 1989. Ice has always been a solid brotha along with his homie Chuck D with droppin knowledge and game
Ice was an original West Coast MC, along with Mix Masted Spade and Toddy T. I remember getting my hands on those tapes back in the day when South Central was called South Central😂 Those tapes were priceless.
I'm sure ice cube was disenfranchised by the west coast hip hop scene at this time. He was being produced by the bomb squad along with public enemy on the east coast. Just bad timing as he was launching his own solo career.
Interesting, but we don't agree, Alternate Impact. Cube had the Lench Mob. Sir Jinx also produced on his LP with The Bomb Squad. Cube was still LA all day, even though he was beefing with the Ruthless Records camp. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
I remember seeing Ice T live in Melbourne, Australia around 89 / 90. He was touring off the film "Colors" & the tittle track. Rhyme Pays is one of my top 10 Hip Hop Joints.
@deon harris dude! 🙄 you cant even see his hair lol the mans 60. He looks fucking great regardless. Its the clarity of the eyes, and how he speaks. Mans doing something right.
I should actually apologize to Ice T and Soren Baker. I have been so privileged and honored. Canada loved you Ice. We had a wild raggamuffin crew. This is why I loved BDP Posse. Michee Mee L.A. Love and Maestro's dancers were the freshest! Great time in hip hop!
Rhyme Pays... i bought it when it came out, still have it...and its one of the best ever made...being around when it all hapened was awesome!!!! 80s decade for ever.....
One of the real ones right here. Growing up in LA and listening to his music were cool days. Ice T had it cracking right out the gate. Cool to see he made it out from the hood and still alive or not sitting behind bars. If you know the real T then you would know why i say that. I still bump “ Six in the morning “ , I’m your pusher and a few other Jamz! 🎵🎵🎵🎶🎶🎶🎶.
Definitely, Gilly Gilly. Ice-T has a lot of great material. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt. Please be sure to subscribe if you haven't already.
I remember seeing him and Rakim in concert here in Detroit in the late 80's. He jumped on top of a prop police car and started yelling "Fuck the Police"!! Before NWA had made that song. OG. One of my favorites of all time.
ICE-T ... Think About When You Used To Have A Club In LA..we talking 84-85-86....anyway...MY UNCLE WAS COOL WIT YOU..they called him “JR” light Skin Colombian Cat. Anyway..there was a PICTURE of you HOLDING ME UP AS A TODDLER..like..I had the crazy Hair (cause of me being Colombian / Black) I had a Jamaican black tank top on..and I as I got older I BRAGGED BOUT THAT PICTURE FOR YEARS!! Then a Hurricane came and we lost a lot of memories..anyways my UNCLE SAID WHAT UP!!!! #IceT #IceT #RememberMe
11:05 hell yeah ice T was in the Black. No ghost writers to pay cause u wrote your own rhymes back then.. Only dope in house producers making the music , no overpriced overhyped (wack) super producers to pay. Plus Ice T did ALL the voices on his albums. So no actors to pay. Smart man
Howie Feldersnatch same as “being in the red” means you are in debt or losing money. Being in the black means you aren’t in debt you are making more than you are spending
All In The Same Gang planted the seed that was needed for a kid like myself. I'm so thankful for that video. Wow. Once the gangs got here to Pittsburgh I knew not to get involved... I still air the song on our radio station Angry Kids 24-7 Radio. The song is still relevant... Thank You Ice and the other artists on the track.
This is dope stuff . Truth be told Ice T is dope . Ice T & King Tee both the T’s stayed in rotation on the rap shows in New York in the ‘80’s & late 90’s . Hip hop is an art as long you’re talented you got respect . Same thing Souls of Mischief the Liks, del , Snoop, Ice Cube, Ren,NWA, Dre, kurupt, rage . I’m from New York they are all super respected & got major play . The ones that didn’t knows why . But again Salute Soren & Salute Ice T to this day one of my favorite artist .
I remember when I was a little kid and I seen ice-t in the movie called " breakin pt 1." He was on stage doing a freestyle rap while ozone lost in a break dance battle and he called him out on it while ozone walked off pissed! Lmao dam I miss my childhood. The good ol days!
Its a safe bet that Ruthless used its influence to keep Cube off Same Gang. That track is basically a Ruthless project. They produced it and they had 6 of their artists on it. Also, no MC Eiht on there either. This song would be good on Rappin and Snackin- Best verse on Same Gang.
This would be a good one for #TheGreatDebaters, scott ferguson. We'll see if #SorenBaker & #AmirRahimi will do it. Thanks for the suggestions & for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
I love this interview...the foundations of our culture and how we came to be is Str8 priceless JEWELS. Ice T is an Icon...Pounds of Respect to our Elder Teacher..he recollects the history with much ease as if it were last week or somethin. So much to be in awe and proud of. Bless Up Ice-Thank you for paving ways and knockin down doors so we can pass the rich traditions to our youngsters. From Doggin The Wax to today..you love ta hear tha story, again n again...
Indeed, danny mckenzie. Here's another one of our interviews with Ice-T where he talks about Death Row Records’ Gang Significance & LA Transplants Getting Extorted By Gangs. We'll run the full interview after we post all the segments, Rashad Grice. We're glad you're enjoying our Ice-T interview. Thanks as always for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
Crazy story bout him getting signed lol and what’s even crazier is the top rappers of its time wasn’t in involved in both the same gang song and self destruction meaning rakim was left out too
Sire records was no joke. They put out some of the greats of the time period - they made the Talking Heads, Pyschedelic Furs and many others. I remember so many times checking an album, and, sure enough, it was Sire yet again. Seymour Stein assisted in the creation of a lot of great culture.
We're glad you enjoyed the interview, Three Norde. Thanks for subscribing to the channel. We've got more than 500 interviews with Ice-T, MC Ren, Nice & Smooth, J Prince, Mack 10 & others. Check them out & let us know what you think. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
See how ice was on NYC back. He respected NYC because of its origin. I wish NYC had took that more serious and would had control hip hop and have everyone bow down to us and we rule and have record labels in every state and each boro will rule each out of town city labels. The gangs of the 70' s in new York would had been billionaire and the gangsters in the 80's will been the upgrades. Wow we lost out on trillions.
im 47 years old. grew up on west coast gangsta rap and grew to appreciate east coast artists from back in the day. but every time ice t talks, i still feel like a kid or his nephew!!!!
Damn, We're All in the Same Gang timelined the NWA break up? Somehow that escaped me it was around the same time.... I was going to say it might have been like that LL Cool J situation for Self Destruction.
We've got several other clips with Ice-T, That one guy. Check out this one where Ice-T talks about Death Row Records’ Gang Significance & LA Transplants Getting Extorted By Gangs. Here's the link, ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2bHXXOG8gy8.html. Let us know what you think. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt.
My brothers and then boyfriend introduced me to hip hop in the early ninties and the POWER and ICEBERG(FREEDOM OF SPEECH JUST WATCH WHAT YOU SAY) albums are two classics.
Great interview. I don't think there is any comparison to Bob Dylan. I have seen both Bob Dylan and Ice T in concert totally on different pages. Maybe more Bob Marley or Peter Tosh then Bob Dylan. I saw Ice T in Toronto in the late 80's, BDP, Biz Markie etc. I think he was with Jorge Hinojosa promoting new album at the time. "BANG 9 MURDERING MC'S!" He would yell out to the crowd I remember. I also saw Ice T at Lollapalooza festival. I think Ice T is amazing M.C. and great actor as well. That is why he is the original gangsta! I remember him in Breakin' I think he wore ski goggles back then. What ever happened to Bango the B Boy Outlaw from Cleveland and from Rhyme Syndicate, He had a couple cool tracks, and I never heard of him again? Great interview as usual.
That executive Seymour Stein might have just been referring to the spirit of the artists and Ice’s bold and frank way of expressing himself and ideas with lyrics; he was probably just more familiar with Dylan (who had stuff like the Emmett Till song out there underground when some other white artists would’ve been uncomfortable and dodged the subject) than Tosh and Marley. All of them could make people uncomfortable at times, and Ice certainly lived up to it.
We're glad you enjoyed the interview, Brinky Brinkz. But we think Ice-T was making the comparison as hironoshozo details below. Also, Stein thought of Ice-T as a poet, a la Dylan. Thanks for watching & supporting #UniqueAccessEnt, as always.
my older cuz hoopt @ wyoming, he came from college 4 xmas break and brought all kinna hip hop tapes and sh!t back 2 memphis..."rhym payz" was 1 o' tha many brand new sh!ts he put my 4f grade ears on -- chanj'd my damn life ✌🏿
Music could change anything cause it creates a healthy narrative, or not. Those words are active, and the mind responds to words in one way or another. Hence, Nipsey Hussle referenced having to change his lyrical content in order to prevent violence at his shows. He actually managed to do that by adjusting words; and he even admitted his life shifting after making that decision.
