I love that an alarm goes off if the fridge is left open for more than a minute. Before closing it, check to see if your cat is inside. I have two cats. Even a cold box is a box. And that one smells so good inside. :) Jon in rural BC, Canada
Thanks Jon! Yes! I am always right there when I open it and it primarily stays in my car. Rupert is always on a lead so I'd definitely see his leash in there unless we were in the camper with it (which is only on occasion)... With my current setup, it's not a concern, but a very good call out in environments where it should be. When we are home, I have to check the dryer every time before I start it. Rupert loves his little cubbies. Lol
The only thing I can think about to make the cooler better is an option to have the door alarm set up to automatically turn on anytime the door is open. Say you’re camping with your kids and they don’t close the door properly. You know about It instantly. Keeps the little buggers out of the snacks and ice cream before dinner.
Hahaha! True! But then you constantly have an alarm going off. 😂 For a solo traveler like me, I don't have to worry about the dog or cat getting in there, so the minute time delay works well for me. 💛
Hocking merch now. Traveling for decades in my old 14' 1963 Scotsman had that sameold cooler like the one in your UHAUL. It made drinking water for my dog's. Somthing to be said for that old icebox. Now I'm spoiled with fridge/AC/hot water & bathroom shower combo. But I'm still camping in all my old spots. Stay safe out there girlfriend.
I bet the little Scotty was so fun! I'm glad you had that experience! I love all of the original things in the camper. It worked for people in the 80s, I don't see why it couldn't work now! The new ICECO refrigerator has made that something that I no longer have to worry about. I still carry a traditional ice cooler for emergencies and dry food storage in the car. The rodents out West are awful! Once one gets in it's like they leave a scent trail and it becomes harder and harder to control. 🫤 Glad you've got a new fun setup that works for you! 💛
@@scottmcfarland2149 Awesome! They have a lot of options available! They even have dual fridge/freezers as well. They take a little more energy to run, so I went with one of the lowest energy consumption fridges they had. I couldn't think of a time when I REALLY needed the freezer option on the road. It would be nice for ice cream or to keep ice for drinks, but the amount of times I'd use that didn't justify the extra power to run the freezer. I've been very happy with this fridge. My parents got me and Ecoflow solar power station for Christmas, so now I can just leave it plugged into the power bank and don't have to worry about running the fridge one bit. It's so easy!
