Iced Tea is a so refreshing, and you don’t need anything special to make it-just tea and hot water.
Here are some quick tips:
🧊Choose your tea. We almost always use Trader Joe’s Decaf Black. But also do some herbal teas to mix it up.
🫖Brew it strong. Remember, the tea will be served with ice and become diluted. We use at least one bag per 8oz of liquid.
🧊We use 8-10 bags per half gallon, but brew it in a smaller container, and then add to a half gallon jar. Brewing it in a smaller container makes pulling the bags out much easier.
🫖Don’t let tea seep too long-it can become bitter. We usually do 5-6, 10 minutes, max.
🧊If you don’t have room for a larger container in your fridge, make iced tea concentrate-put 8-10 bags in a pint size (16oz) jar, and then steep. When you are ready for a glass, just pour ¼ cup of the liquid into a glass and add water.
🫖Sweet tea can be made easily by adding your sugar or sweetener to a jar, along with the tea bags. Add hot water and the water will both dissolved the sugar and steep the tea.
🧊If you do make concentrate, be sure to label it so others know it is super strong.
🫖Sun tea is a popular choice, but make sure it is warm and sunny enough for steeping the tea. Some say sun tea is risky because bacteria can grow while it is steeping-so make your own choice (kind of like cookie dough-some say the risk is worth it).
🧊If you want to keep your iced tea strong, you can consider making iced tea cubes out to keep the drink from becoming diluted.
