Saw Icehouse live in concert in New Zealand, back in 1991, and they were every bit as enthralling and captivating in-person, as in a sound studio. Their sound quality and delivery has only continued to age just as well (if not even better) with the passing years. Iva and the band remain iconic, masterful and passionate. A rare gem in what can often be a meteoric and fickle industry. Their sound truly is 'legend'.
I swear this song never gets old, especially the live version. That sax, Iva's voice (and the vocals of Paul Gildea), the powerful guitars, the drums...literally all of it. A masterpiece of a song this is. Goosebump inducing. 💗
I am not kidding. Icehouse is the best band in my eyes, period. Their songs strike a cord with me and their live performances almost always match or succeed the studio version.
I'm now 70+ and this is undoubtedly about the best band I've heard (and I've worked for many inc the "big names" of the UK and US). This song encapsulates my own life perfectly. 40+ years........... never been able to move on, except professionally.
im 50 , was 14 in 1984 of release , I was at St Andrews Cathedral School in Sydney listening to this song on my head phones going to and from school at Town Hall , also another great song is We can get together & Street Cafe , my best ever band when I was a teenager growing up in the 80's in Sydney...... great memories !
Peter G a bit too downbeat, sombre and slow compared to what was happening at the time. For mine, it’s a classic song and deserving of more recognition.
I'm a Pom (in NZ) and will say that Iva and the boys should have long ago been playing at Glastonbury. I would have been first in he queue for tickets. Absolutely wonderful.
i have to interupt that sentiment and say that the band needs just as much credit for icehouse just as much as iva yeah, *although i totally get where your coming from ;)
Don't Believe Anymore is such a deeply moving and powerful song. Icehouse presents it in 2015 with the same profound emotions that gave me goosebumps and tears when I first heard it in 1987.
@@Ilaab1995 Ok! Although I knew this group during the 80's with the song "Hey little girl", I discovered this song a few years ago only when building my 80's playlist. Now I listen to it when I can and it's a real pleasure each time I can hear it. Since my playlist counts more than 9,400 titles from 1970 to 2016, it's not as regular as I would like but I listened to it twice yesterday. ;)
Wow... I'd forgotten how powerful this tune was/is... and the fact that Iva pulls this off as well in 2015 as he did way back when is just testament to how god damn talented this guy is... even being a Kiwi, I can't help but be continually impressed and in awe of this true Aussie legend and national treasure; his vast, 40 year catalogue of hit after hit after hit... he's Australia's Neil Finn... which is meant as the hugest compliment. A nd his work from The Flowers era still stakes up today too... what a f**king dude.
Ivan Davis Icehouse one of my favourites song 💖💖 believe anymore 1980 see them many times there in Adelaide Touring love them thank you sharing there songs music always love them one of my favourites 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
Kills me that this live version isn't available in the US market :( I have LOVED this song since I was a kid growing up in the 80's. Would do anything for this version in the library on my phone.
Every time this song comes up in my youtube music playlist, i have to hit repeat 1 and listen to it again and again. Such a powerful song, but also building to the raw power, as the song progresses. Blows me away and stirs so much emotion and energy! I don't hear much Icehouse/Flowers on the radio these days, like we use to on Melbourne's Triple M, BUT every Icehouse song that comes up in my playlist is a classic and reminds me of the late 80's and early 90's - my teens! Would have loved to see them live!
Iva Davies always said he never wanted to sing or write about his romances, but this song certainly did... and did it so damn well. Gives me a chill and a tear whenever I hear this powerful song, instantly thinking about my own lost loves. So, does anyone have any idea just who this song was about???
It's not just Iva with good vocals in this song, Paul Gildea's were pretty damn good too! In fact the whole band are pretty damn good. IMHO Paul Wheeler is one of the best drummers in the country.
UNBELIEVABLE Epic Masterpiece, which gives me goosebumps and emotion. . Brings tears, This Song is about a TOXIC relationship . Thank GOD I finally got rid of sadistic, Skilled NARCISSISTIC SOCIOPATH . THEY enjoy invoking pain and drag every one else down to their deceitful miserable manipulative life Valuable lesson learnt GOD bless All of You. .
sexy sexy saxophone! 🎷 noone plays the sax quite like Glenn Reither! 👍 Mr Iva "Electric Blue Eyes" Davies, Paul Gildea, Glenn Reither, Michael Paynter, Steve Bull & Paul Wheeler - thank you!!! the world would be a darker place without your musical genius! 😊👍🎷🎸🎵🎤🎹🎧 Icehouse is all i know, and i DO believe forevermore! 😄💋🎵
Classic 80s group from a time when music was real , not like today's, I doubt today's music will be even played in 20 or 30 years or more , unlike the music if the 70s and 80s .
None of the band came out to sign anything after the show - because of the large number of people - it would have taken forever - but I know some people did get some things signed - they seemed to get some of the road crew to pass them on - and picked them up backstage after the show.. I did see a couple of people going up the back stairs to the stage. But - the show was amazing.
Thank you for all of these beautiful songs🤗💞 Iva, your voice is still as enchanting as ever. I was a young mum when many of these songs were made. Not much chance of seeing bands back then but i would certainly love to see you in concert now ❤🌏🪐🌕🙏✨🦋🐝😎🌺🌸🦉🏡🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹
Breathtaking. Emotionally moving. ICEHOUSE came to me in late summer 1977, a Friday night, on a local station's poor man's concert. First song Icehouse. From this moment forward they were, have been and remained my favorite band of all time. This video underscores and highlights why I have felt this way so long. PERFECTION. !!!!!! Thank you so much, Iva Davies! Best of the best of the best! Make it so ... ... ...
Wow this touches my soul. Amazing 🎷 .... So many of Icehouse songs are just as good or better live. I have like three or four versions of all their songs I listen to. Incredible band. Thank you so much for sharing your talent with the world.
