That's the least eurovision typical song and I love that! I'd love to see Iceland winning and even singing in icelandic. It reminds me a little bit to Rammstein. You should feel so proud! 🇮🇸

I mostly listen to industrial and dark electronic music outside of being a Eurovision nut, so pretty much this song was genetically engineered specifically for me. I'm so glad so many people have reacted positively to it! Regardless of any political protests that may or may not end up happening on the day of, it's going to be interesting to see how things go and how people react!

"hate will prevail" is a commentary on where the world is headed (possibly) .. they don't believe in hate .. they're actually trying to wake people up and accept each other INSTEAD of hate each other .. they are anti greed and anti hate .. they say they would like for there to be more love in the world actually

Hi fellow Icelander here and I think you should definitely read about the band Hatari ( which means hater in English) and their message and stand on Eurovision being held in Israel this year, it very interesting. :D Also us here in Iceland are very happy with our choice, you can't go a day without hearing the song on the radio or in the shops. Anyway really enjoyed your reaction. My first reaction after 3 seconds: Fak yes!!! Me after the song: HATRID MUN SIGRA! To be honest I wasn't shocked since I listen to this kind of music for about 15 years. EBM is a genre that has many different styles. Hatari I would say are making Industrial/Techno. I ❤ it! Their show is superb but not the most shocking thing ever. There are other bands who are taking it to another level. 🤐 DEF my favourite song, and 12 points from Germany, 12 points UK (because I live here now 😁)

After listening to this, i felt a sensation that Eyafjallajokull is about to erupt again, and it's gonna kill us all. But... coming from a place where we choose someone with an iron mask and singing about cellphones (aparently), for me this... reminds me of Finland's winning song in 2006. Let's see if in 2020 we will go to Reykyavik. I wouldn't be surprised.

I think Iceland will be the darkhorse for sure, I agree with Luke. Thing is. It's different, it's provocative, it's daring and it's unforgettable... the more you listen to it, the more you adore it. Also I think this is the only song this year to have a key change in such a slick way; you wasn't expecting it. Actually, I think it's Iceland's year. Well. I listen to Hatari’s song on full volume for like 3 hours everyday (ofc I take breaks) my favorite song from Hatari is Odyr and Klamstrakur :D my friends call me crazy... even tho I have 2 friends :)

Iceland is one of the countries I look for ward to every year for something different. So when they released this I just had to see it. As a music lover it's a bravo for bringing something new to Eurovision, and then I discovered I was deeply disturbed by the song and needed to go to church and see Jesus. The song is awesome and I so hope they do well with this. I would so go to Iceland next year!

Great review :) Just a small correction to Bayley from Australia (on 1:54) - Iceland isn't a part of Scandinavia - same applies to Finland ;) Both are Nordic countries though :) So Scandinavia consists only of Norway, Sweden and Denmark (Norway and Sweden are located on the Scandinavian peninsula but Danmark is an "add on" due to a historical connection).

It was fan favourite from the start.. And both the public and the international juries voted for the song and this was the best choice.last few years we have send safe songs why not try something different and this song stand out and for sure different.. Will it qualify?? Yes I do think that we will qualify for the grand final and I hope that people will vote for Iceland in semi final one. This song is needed in eurovison right now.i do understand that it may not be everyone cup of tea and that is fine.. It's a bit Rammstein meets DuranDuran, but yeah, I like it. Such a stark contrast to last year's entry from Iceland. This is definitely going to make it to the final and probably place in the top ten, just because it is so refreshingly different.

This is the first time I've ever been so proud of our band! Normally I'm like, "Guys, you don't need to give us pity votes... we know the band we sent sucks, the Söngvarkeppni voters always choose terrible bands...." But this time.... YES!!! So proud of them! :) BTW, definitely check out the interviews with these guys - they're hilarious. When asked about it, they responded that the struggle against capitalism is very expensive, so they had to take on a sponsor to help fund it. ;) They also have one video where they're decorating a cake for one of the band members' young daughter's birthday, this over-the-top wholesome scene, while in the background someone reads off hate mail that they've received from people calling for them to be banned from the competition. In response to one social conservative repeatedly railing against them, they issued a public statement announcing that they had hired her as their PR manager, and thanking her for her hard work toward helping them get selected for the competition ;) I just love these guys!

Hatred will prevail" is basically a prophesy written down like Völuspá poem (Ragnarök) about current state of affairs in Europe and the World. How greed, corruption, capitalism/consumerism rule our lives and a warning against the rise of populism/fascism. How hatred will prevail and love die if we continue on this path. The BDSM is symbolic to both the relationship between the ruling class(elite) and the people and between capitalism and the consumer(slave).

This is going to be a smash hit like Lordi or it’s going to crash hard like Line did for Latvia. I quite enjoy this and it’s sitting comfy in my top ten.
