Loving your Iceland series 👍 Can’t wait to make it there ourselves! Keep up the great work guys! I feel you with the grammar Kevin! You prepare so much for creating videos but never thought to practice my grammar as well 🤦♂️
Starting to edit my trip. You had a pretty good view at vestrahorn, we had super foggy rain. Yes very sketch. We had some very scary moments in the north. We turned around going to the town through the mountains in the eastFjord. Seydisfroder we not worth the risk of the snowy mountains. Next time. Great video at least we can watch it here.we went to hengifoss and it was snowing and Also very hard hike. Lol
Keep up the great videos. They are bringing back to many memories of our trip around Iceland back in 2015. Lots of "been there" and oohh "been there" but my favourite was when we went to the same peninsula at Stokksnes to see the lighthouse. The lady that sold us the ticket and said "remember to look at the wiking willage" . We nearly cried laughing. We are looking forward to Part 4.
@@TheAwkwardTourists Ah just watched part 4. We have not done the east and north of Iceland yet. We plan to go back in 2022 and do the north side and go whale watching. However, I see you teased us with the western fjords for part 5. I get the shivers thinking about that side of Iceland. That is where I had my heart attack on the penultimate day. For real. !!!
@@TheAwkwardTourists I am binge-watching all over again as I make my itinerary for August. I am a bit of a "lighthouse nut," and know I won't be able to resist the temptation to detour. Do you happen to recall the name of the one that was on private property, so I can save the trip to that one? Thanks again for such a helpful series!
That became a really "Akward" Tourists moment when you said "...Did you forget my name?!" lol! 🥴🤣🤣 Beautiful area you guys are in, and the black volcanic sand everywhere really sets off the colors and makes everything really pop! Even the mountains/old volcanos look cool with parts of them changing from huge jagged rock to smooth crystal sand hills!
LOL…always amusing when people seem surprised that it’s cold in a place called ICE-land 😆 Hope you enjoyed the snow….if it has to be cold, snow at least makes it pretty.
Your videos are awesome and you guys are too. The sight seeing is like coming down from North CA to the South, so much to see and you have to stop every time you turn around. BUT it's not COLD :)
Loving this series of vlog. As I mentioned in your earlier vlog I’m heading to Iceland in a July and having watched these have now decided to hire a campervan. Looking forward to your other vlogs with anticipation 🚐🇮🇸
Too bad about the weather but of course in Iceland you can expect anything as you mentioned. My father and his family are from the next fjord south of Seyðisfjörður called Mjóifjörður. Only about 20 people live there year-round and the road is closed about half the year. There is a boat that comes twice a week with supplies during that time.
@@TheAwkwardTourists I do visit most years. My uncle still has a farm there, a beautiful place. It is only about 45 minutes driving from Egilstadir in the summer but some scary gravel roads. Another interesting fact is that around 1900 the population was close to 400 people when the Norwegians had set up two whaling stations there. Most of the farms were then abandoned in the years 1950-1970, only two left.
We heard from some different locals that it was unusually cold, but I didn't know it was record breaking! We were feeling like wimps but that makes us feel better. Thanks for sharing your beautiful country with us!
I just wanted to say that my husband and I love your videos! It's so hard to find a couples travel vlog that isn't annoying - yours came up in my feed and when I saw 'The Awkward Tourists', I thought, I can get down with that :-D We're leaving in a couple weeks and decided on going with a campervan! We were there in 2019 for 2 weeks and did the entire Ring Road with hotels/AirBnBs. We want to be more flexible and free this time with the volcano and to jump around to see sights we missed. Thanks again for all of your really useful info and for not being the typical self-absorbed annoying vloggers :)
Thanks so much! Glad you like the videos, we try to be ourselves as much as possible, which can be a little goofy /awkward at times. Hope you two have a great trip!
I've been following your Iceland series and my hubby and I are so excited to go in a couple of months. Hubby has heard me laugh at your vids many times (gooses for this one) and even remembers you guys even though he doesn't watch much travel vlogs. You guys have hit up many places that are on our 11-days itinerary and it's so nice to see what they look like instead of just reading years-old posts. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to seeing more videos of this Iceland series! Side note, we also booked with Happy Campers and will be driving Happy 1. Can't wait to travel in the happy van in Iceland!
Awesome! So glad that you find the videos useful. It's a great time to go to Iceland. Hopefully you wont have too many crowds for your trip. We have 5 more Iceland Videos coming. Stay tuned!
Always nice to see your videos :) You got quite unlucky with the weather, normally it doesn't snow in June (it can happen but usually not), even if it's Iceland :) Vinbudin literally means "The Wine Store" - Icelanders are really strict with their alcohol and you can not buy alcohol anywhere else except in these government-run stores (maybe a few light beers in stores but that's it). The beer Einstök is a really good one, (Einstök means Unique and the spelling suggests that it's a female. If it was male it would be called Einstakur. Icelandic is weird :) ) Have fun on the Northern side of Iceland, that's actually where I'm from :) (a place called Skagafjordur).
Thank you so much. We really loved the North. It was an unexpected highlight for our trip. We actually went to Skagafjordur (video coming out this wednesday/thursday) to go to the hospital there, We just needed a perscription, but it seemed like a really nice town!
This was in Mid May, yes. But weather in Iceland is all over the place. I have heard of it snowing in the middle of summer too. Best to be prepared for every type of weather when visiting Iceland.
I have a question is this the weather as of today or is this a month back you just now posting ? Sorry I’m confused . Reason I ask because I will be there july 24 .
This adds a great perspective to Iceland! I can’t wait to go myself, and I’m wondering if you guys honestly find it amazing or more problematic because of the repeated COLD weather?? I know everyone’s experience is different, but I’d love to know if you feel it’s completely worth it, and if your trip length/mode of travel in the happy camper van is the way to go! I’m loving your footage and your reactions so far!! Thank you for sharing your journeys with us 💕🥳
Thanks so much for the support. Iceland is completely worth it. We were fine with the cold, but being from Southern California, we aren't used to it as much. I think we weren't expecting as much snow in May, but that adds to the rugged appeal of Iceland. I would definitely recommend going, just pack lots of warm clothes, even in summer
Curious as to what you did for bathrooms given that most campgrounds were closed? Also, that campground price is incredibly cheap compared to the actual cost of proper accommodation in my experience.
Every town, no matter how small will have a gas station with bathrooms, also the tourist attractions/ main trailheads will have bathroom facilities. You're not supposed to go outside, but in a pinch, you can duck behind a bush for #1. As for prices, campgrounds are definitely cheaper, but you have to pay per person so just keep that in mind
Are there any roadside rest stops along the longer stretches of highway between towns where you can go to the bathroom if you suddenly need to? If there are no rest stops, where can you go if it's an emergency? There are no trees you can go behind. Just go by the side the road and hope that nobody else comes along?
Every "major" attraction will have toilets available, and there is a gas station in every town that you can use the restroom. We have heard that there are public swimming pools in almost every town (no matter how small) and they will have restrooms too. We didn't have issues finding a place on the ring road. The highlands might be a different story though
@@TheAwkwardTourists Another thing that takes a little getting used to is the fact that most of the time the roads have no shoulders. In the U.S. you can pull over pretty much anywhere if you get a flat tire, or if you just have to pee. Or for whatever reason. Just if you feel like it or whatever. No pulling off to the side of the road just anywhere in Iceland!
Great video guys, been following your Iceland trip videos and they're all very excellent. My husband and I will plan to go there sometime next year, so your videos are really helpful to give us some insight on what we are about to face. Quick question, were you guys visiting during the time of the upload the video? Or did you went earlier then post the videos afterwards? Thanks in advance, keep posting!
I'm shocked at how much yous guys are complaining about the cold! Guessing yous guys are from California or somethin'. If you had ever been to Western New York you'd be used to the cold!
Iceland Is very drone friendly, as long as you stay away from airports and national parks. The sites that drones are prohibited had signs asking you not to fly, but there are TONS of spots to fly a drone. Bring extra batteries and memory cards, you will need them!
@@freyjav6055 I doubt you will find much snow on the ground then, But we have been told that you should be prepared for all types of weather all the time in Iceland. Have a great trip!
@@TheAwkwardTourists That's what I was thinking!! And it's always best to be prepared, especially in Iceland!! Lol. Thank you and I really LOVE all your videos!! 🖤
