I just came back from Iceland and I am so sad to have loved a country so much and have had to return home after just a few days. I haven't even been able to go through my pictures and videos because I miss all those places so much.

I know what you mean :) I had the same feeling and so I kept coming back and before I realised I moved here 😄 I hope you'll be back to experience even more of this amazing place!

@@janinicelandthank you! I’ve found myself daydreaming of the trails and hills that me and my fam hiked over the last 2 weeks, the constant sight of sheep and breathtaking mountains, the crazy wind, the daily aurora-forecast checking even though it’s early.. I could go on and on 🥹 But this only makes me Excited to start fantisizing about a date on the calendar to visit in the future soon 🇮🇸❤️

Lovely no BS guide unlike other youtubers, thanks for this Jan. Assuming I want to see the greener version of Iceland (as opposed to the snowy or autumn version) and also experience the Auroras, which month will be better - September or March end?
@janiniceland
@janiniceland 3 месяца назад
Thank you Karthik! My favourite times for auroras is always the beginning of the ,,aurora season'' and so therefore I would recommend September. Sunset is around 8pm at the beginning of the month and around 6pm towards the end of the month.

Hi Jan, the sunset photo you had at the beginning with the Campfire in front was really amazing. Enjoyed the Northern lights photos as well. With living out in the country can definitely relate to being able to see the stars better than in lighted areas. Thanks for all of the helpful tips to increase the chance of being able to see something so unusual and memorable.

Hello Ben! Thank you, this was one of my favourite nights this year. I shot this around midnight I believe. Summer days here beautiful. I'm glad you enjoyed the video, are you planning to visit Iceland soon?

@@janiniceland I don't have plans to visit Iceland at least for now. I do enjoy watching videos of other places in the world and see the different landscapes and beautiful nature. I think you do a great job in filming, narrating and connecting with your viewing audience. Happy to have found your channel as it popped up as a suggested video to watch.

Hey Jan. love the video. What about trying to see the Aurora at the end of October? Thanks
@janiniceland
@janiniceland 6 месяцев назад
Thank you Martina, glad it's helpful :) October is a great month for northern lights. ,,On October 1, the sun rises at 7:37 a.m. and sets at 6:56 p.m. By the end of the month, daylight hours have reduced; on October 31, the sun rises at 9:08 a.m. and sets at 5:13 p.m.'' That means there's enough of darkness to see them, you will just need good weather.

@janiniceland 10 месяцев назад
Hello and thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it :) It's actually a good idea if you want to see northern lights because there're very long nights at that time of the year - in average we only get about 5hrs of daylight in December. Which makes it more challenging for traveling but successful aurora hunting can balance things out. I would personally choose a month with more daylight (lets say february) but I'm sure you'll have a great time even if you travel here in December. Fingers crossed for good weather!

Hi Jan, great short video! I'm planning to make a trip to Iceland in September this year and will be driving the Ring Road. Do you have any tips/tricks for taking photos/videos of the Northern Lights with a smartphone? As I'm not a photographer and will only be using what I have along with bringing along a tripod for stability. Thank you 🙏
@janiniceland
@janiniceland 7 месяцев назад
Hi and thank you! It really depends on what you have. But generally you just want to set a longer exposure and put it on the tripod. What I would do is to just use RU-vid and search for your phone model for example : Iphone 14 night photography tips - and the same/similar settings should apply for taking photos of aurora as well :) My phone is old and isn't very capable of shooting northern lights but friend of mine with iphone 13 got some great shots :) good luck for your aurora hunting!

Hi Jan is it favorable to see for us northern lights on late october? will we have a chance of less rain or no?
@janiniceland
@janiniceland 4 месяца назад
Hey! You can see northern lights in October but it is very difficult to predict what weather there will be...October is often some of the rainiest months of the year, but it depends, you can get some very nice weather too. But usually if you're staying here for at least a week then there's usually at least one night when sky clears up and you can see the northern lights :)

Can you recommend the northern lights tour in Iceland?
@janiniceland
@janiniceland 11 месяцев назад
I don't have any personal experience with these tours. I would check websites like TripAdvisor and so on and compare the reviews - go preferably with a smaller company, photographer or guide. If money's not an issue than you can also choose a private tour. but I always recommend to do it on your own. Just follow my tips, keep an eye on the forecast, hope for a good weather and find some place with no light pollution :)
