English subtitles are available! For beginners I recommend: Watch first with English subtitles and try to pick out simple words (like pronouns and numbers, “elf”, “and” etc). If you understood quite a bit - try again without subtitles and see how much you will get! If you understood very little - try again with subtitles and I am sure you'll understand more now! For intermediate students I recommend: Watch first without subtitles - try to understand as much as possible. For the second time watch with subtitles to see what you missed! Whatever your level, I do strongly recommend that you watch this story more than once (either now, or again in a few days). Because repetition really helps language learning. If at any time you feel like your brain is melting - remember the pause button. Breaks are encouraged :) This is not a trivial story to understand by any means - so anything that you do understand is a huge bonus! Yay for you guys!

Great story! This gives me flashbacks to when I almost got stuck in Eyvindarhola. That would have been a bad day.

This was brilliant. A great way to introduce new words gently. The inflection patterns start to become a little bit clearer when the words are used in sentences. Many thanks.

I like how you you tried to keep the english translation close to the sentence construction in icelandic! very helpful

Yes, on purpose I tried to favour the more direct translation (where possible) instead of a more natural sounding one from an English perspective, because I thought that might help with understanding the Icelandic text. Thank you for noticing! (You seriously notice everything! 😊)

I just love this! Like all learners, I do the usual grammar and language learning methods... however this is something special. It is a chance to hear a clear, native speaker present a story at a slightly slower pace. Sometimes, I find myself trying to pick out words and pronouns, but other times I just read and listen, much like a child. It also helps so much with my pronunciation and accent (I hope). I just love your channel, and am finding it so helpful.

Planið er að bæta fleiri sögum við þegar ég hef tíma. En ég get ekki útskýrt málfræði á íslensku, það verður of flókið og tekur alltof langan tíma fyrir mig að setja texta við allt.
