Disclaimer. I am no electrical anything! I just watch RU-vid video’s and try and work stuff out.
This video is about the discharge bank I made for my 2s drag pack. Hopefully there is enough details that will help other work it out.

Stew Mack Thankyou ! I've learned alot from your videos I really appreciate your hard work and time .

This is great, thanks. But isn't your current dropping because the voltage in the battery is dropping? V=I x R so I = V/R. As you discharge, your voltage drops and therefore so does your current. Might be completely wrong..

where did ya get the heat sinf that wraps around the resistors heatsink?

its not working for me. the second mine hits the amps its set to it drops back down to 40 watts (what the internal discharge is limited to) and the charger starts heating up. i dont get it. only difference is im discharging a 4s and my power supply is only 10 amps but cant imagine the power supply is limiting what can be discharged through the resistors

I got it to work a few years ago, and never got it to work again. Could never get it to work with 4s packs. Not sure why.

Nice VDO. I'm going to buy this charger. If I discharge with resistors bank like you by use a bad battery (very different of IR value of each cell). will this charger protect each cell from volt going below than setting and completed with balance ?

So I have an s6 and I built the Same resistor bank as you, went through the settings as you have but I can't get it to discharge more then 5 amps, any help would be appreciated
@dirtrider88

7:07 why is it only discharging at about 5 watts???? also, isnt your fan plugged into 12 volts at whatever amps your power supply puts out (which would be way more than your fans can handle)? how does that not fry your fans?
@StewMac570
@StewMac570 4 месяца назад
Amps don’t push, the fan draws the Amps it needs
@dirtrider88

@@StewMac570 but why does it only say it discharging at around 5 amps?

1. How frequent you need to do high amps discharge? 2. After hi amps discharge you will charge to storage mode or charge fully?
@StewMac570
@StewMac570 Год назад
1. Every charge 2. Discharge to storage

Hi, looking to make one of these, what do you use to stick the fans to the resistors, thanks.

Some thermal paste and they are held on with bolts.

should,nt those brass wires on the resister pack be covered? surely you could short them?
@dirtrider88
@dirtrider88 4 месяца назад
you gotta be pretty stupid to short those out. you would have to drop something metal with a big sharp curve or 2 small sharp curves and it would have to land perfectly to short them out.

Can this discharger be used for 4s batteries. If not can you give me info on making on for a 4s battery. I would like to discharge 4s batteries at 20-30amps.
@StewMac570
@StewMac570 Год назад
I have used it in 4s. I can’t remember the amps though, you may need to add more resistors to get up to the amps you need,

It is a bank of resistors that help the charger draw more current from the battery to discharge it. The reason for discharging at hi amps is to get the battery working and effecting all the chemicals with in the cells. It also creates internal heat in the battery that helps lower the IR and improve performance of the battery. This should only be done with good quality packs. It will shorten the life of the pack but when your looking for performance the life of the battery is less important.
@clarktempleman6547
@clarktempleman6547 Год назад
So you can't cycle the battery, you discharge at 30 amps then remove the resistor bank and then charge the battery at 30 amps is that correct?
@StewMac570
@StewMac570 Год назад
@@clarktempleman6547 yes. For the X6 you have to remove the discharger to then charge the battery.

It's all here in this calculator -> docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1waYWgLEi84AtUdejCCoL29zYFfH4gE_9bRCaxhC_BoQ/edit?usp=sharing Now I am surprised by the discharge.. it should be around 50... not 22.. I am doing anything wrong?
