It's an excellent touch having the background scene included to help diorama possibilities. Good review.

I just put together that Vickers gun for a Model T armored car. The Vickers goes together quite well considering how tiny some of the parts are and it looks wonderful when done. Thankfully I didn't have the tripod issues you had here.

The box art and diorama base suggest that the fighting is taking place on Beach "S" , which has less steep topography coming up from the beach. This is where the South Wales Borderers landed on the eastern side of the peninsula and secured the high ground above a defensive gun position known as de Tott's battery at Eski Hissarlik Point. This would have been early on the 25th April 1915. The Borderers were replaced by French Forces after 26 April. The French troops appear to be Africans with European commander. And don't forget the Indian troops. You can't use the tin hats because they were not issued until the summer of 1915, and then most likely first to the Western Front where they were needed to protect soldiers from artillery shrapnel shells. Photos of British troops show them wearing the tropical uniform pith helmet.

Interesting vidoe, thanks. Don't use the steel helmets or mills bombs though as they were not issues to British forces until after Gallipoli campaign was over. Similarly, the Ross rifle only equipped Canadian forces briefly on the western front before it was withdrwan from service and therefore was never used in the campaign. The manufacturer may have confused the pictures of territorials in Gallipoli, some of whom were equipped with similar loooking long Lee Enfield rifles.

There were troops from Newfoundland there too, not just Brits and Ozzies. My grandfather was also there.

@@TheSteveRobinson Yes, thats right. The Newfoundland Regiment jojned the 29 Div as reinforcements in September 1915 and serverd with them on the western front for the rest of the war, at that time as you will know, Newfoundland was not fully part of Canada in a political sense and they did not therefore become part of the Canadian Corps. There were also Indians, Greek mule drivers and of course French in Gallipoli, more of whom were killed in the campaign than Austalians in fact! My original comment was just about the accuracy of the equipment though.

Lovely looking kit! Ref the rifle slings, maybe treat them similar to papier mache? Cut thin strips of paper to length. Make a plasticine mould in the curved shape you want the sling to be in and lay the strips of paper in it, then coat them in PVA?. Then when the glue dries they are more likely to stay in shape. A but round the houses but I think the result would look OK :) For that bent tripod leg could it be heated very gently and pressed against a flat surface so it cools straight? A bit like stretching sprues for aerials etc but not as hot. Actually watching the rest of the video Gary you mentioned using hot water to shape the Vickers gun ammunition belt.. that might work in reverse to straighten that tripod leg? That's going to be a fun build. Those figures have zenithal and contrast style paints written all over them :) I /do/ like that diorama! You could do a replacement textured base, but the vertical pieces mean if you were say to photograph it in monochrome it could look very realistic :)

An alternative for the slings would be thin foil such as that found around the neck of a wine bottle (so a friend tells me...), bit thicker than aluminium kitchen foil but thin enough to mould easily.

Good idea@@garys_stuff.. not being a big wine drinker I didn't think of that. I wonder if a beer can could be cut up? ;)

Just to be sure, you do know I don't control the ads you see? Also, you may see different ads to other people depending on how YT sees your demographics.

The manufacturer is Ukrainian so if you decide to buy you'll also be helping the Ukrainian economy.
