I had to look this up online, they said MOV like 20 times and never give an explanation... With the MOV setting of 4. Does that mean it can protect up to 4 surges and then turn off? Does that mean 1 MOV protects against 1 lightening event? I'm trying to understand when a MOV would be used up.
What is an MOV??? Please clarify the difference between over and under voltage and a surge. What is the life expectancy from these units? If the voltage goes over to 255 volts for example, and it trips it off, does this count as a strike against the unit? So it can only work 4 more times? If you had a regular a/c, and the compressor kicked on causing the lights to dim momentarily, could this trigger an automatic low voltage disconnect? What percentage or voltage do you recommend to disconnect at for over and under voltage on a 240 volt circuit? Can I have a surge protector on my disconnect and then have this installed after the disconnect? Yes this would be two surge protectors. I already have the surge protectors but likes the added protection of this unit. Please advise. Thanks.
Nothing protects against a close lightning surge If lightning can travel miles, Is 50k degrees a 30k amps and 300 million volts. It would blow this device off the wall. Just do a whole house surge device and skip all the problems with electronic gadgets like this. We aren't astronauts. This is guaranteed nuisance calls. 45 years field experience here. Industrial chillers and absorption equipment.
