All HT radios can benefit from a better antenna! Take a look at the Diamond BNC-24 (www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-001419), which we sell, or an equivalent Signal Stick, which we don't. Alternatively, you can get an antenna with an SMA connector and add an BNC-SMA adapter.
I have the V86 and the only thing I don't care for is the Alpha Numeric lettering small and capital letters that are mixed together which is hard to read when a frequency is labeled.
How do u like as far as receive and transmit? I’ve found that the 5 watt plus radios seem to be better especially as far as simplex while out in the field. I see it has a aa battery case that u can get as well?
@@johnmossy3757 Works great! especially indoors when I'm talking to others off the local repeater. When indoors I may get all sorts of RFI. Tested the various output and I'm getting 3 watts on low, about 5.6 on high and 6.7 on the extra high feature in the mid 2m range. Haven't tried simplex yet.
