When you transmit on the main band, the sub band should mute all receiving so that you are not retransmitting audio from the sub band. This ONLY works if you radio is using UHF/UHF or VHF/VHF.
The sub band mute feature from page 16 of the user manual only refers to RECEIVING, and mentions noting of TRANSMITTING.
Here is the text from the manual: "Sub band mute
Selects to mute the SUB band audio signal while receiving on the
MAIN band, and/or sound a beep when a signal disappears on the
SUB band."
The Sub Band mute feature when turned on will mute the sub band when a signal is being RECEIVED by the main band.
Icom needs to release a firmware upgrade to correct this.
