I put mine in 80 degrees from yours. That way the zip pocket is on the top when looking at the radio when on vs being on the pocket. Great product. I LOVE mine! Works very well and easy too. Much easier to plug into the ports quickly and easily.

Basically you are converting a portable to a base, cool factor is very high, can’t get past the price, perhaps the 7300 may be a better option at this point.

That looks amazing, Only changes I would make would be the volt meter, I would put one in that has a usb power port for a small lamp or usb device

I see at least one draw back, if I wanted to use the Radiowavz long wire antenna with the 705 tuner I would have to remove the tuner to mount it to a mast.

The way you were constantly and carelessly sliding the metal edge of the chassis on the radio cable I am surprised you didn’t cut it or damage it but maybe you did!!

Looks to be a cool accessory. Price is high. But nothing as well made commercially comes close so again value and quality.

I'd be worried about ventleation.

He should have used, say, BLUE cable ties to be the ones that need to be cut and made reference to cutting the BLUE cable ties only!

I am torn between the IC 705 and the Lab 599. Any thoughts on the 599?

Should make a version for the BLF-1230A battery, then you'd have a manpack radio.

Do you have a link to where the files are to print the little stand for home use? It would be nice if you could buy a set of rack mount ears so when you're in the shack or traveling in an RV you could mount the 705 into a 19" rack space if you wanted to.

With a radio like the 705 I would definitely upgrade that chincy copper shielded non tined core cable with a significantly thicker tin / aluminum shielded, tined copper core cable. The beefier the cable the better the signal especially at higher frequencies.

Awesome case! I got to use the IC-705 at our Field Day site this year Friday evening. Another ham brought it and with my Diamond loop antenna set up had a chance to play with it. I made several contacts on 40 meters and got great reports. Has a solid rcvr too. 73 de W2BK

Nice product but the face plate is straight like a banana ! You can’t ignore it if you whant propose quality item.

You turned a perfectly good little portable radio into a bulky monstrosity. Just get a bag and put the radio in it. Take it out when you need it. You've addded extra weight and reduced the amount of space to put cables, antennas etc...

Nice kit, but at $450 for the low capacity battery and $480 for the high cap, I'll pass and continue to use my Icom backpack as it has a whole bunch of better functionality and accessibility. Also, do you happen to know if the IC-705 GPS will still reliably work in this metal enclosure? Most folks dont understand that the IC-705 is made of plastic, which allows GPS signals to pass. Amazon sells the identical to Icom high cap batteries for $50 (versus $130+for Icom) and I can afford to throw several in my Icom backpack, lunch, antenna tuner, Ah-703 antenna, and a small laptop and either just hike it in; put it on a rock; or picnic table, etc, much as I did with my IC-703 backpack combo. Please don't take me wrong, as i do see utility in this cool kit, but not at the price point. It looks well made and hopefully I'll see me in the field soon. 73s.

What is the wifi signal like after putting it in that metal case? 705 already has a weak reception, I find it very unnecessary to increase the weight so much, while the 705 is only powered by such a small battery, this whole complex should also fit a tuner and a small PA and larger batteries, also the possibility of charging with a solar panel.
