Let's take a look at SDR-Control for Mac OS or iOS(iPad). This app gives complete rig control for IC-705, IC-9700, and IC-7610. Built in digital HF modes, logging PSKReporter and more!

That is the best looking waterfall I've seen in a long time. If I had a newer Macbook, I'd be all over this.

I don't use Mac's or iPad's but good to see those users have good software for iHam's.😄👍

Nice video..... the cloud sync is using your iCloud to sync between devices (RTFM) 🤣 the globe with contacts was pretty cool. Much better than just the flat map. Thanks for doing this video....

To work from your office did you need anything extra or did you just need to open the app
@FEPLabsRadio
@FEPLabsRadio Год назад
This gets a little tricky - it depends on your network setup at your office, and at your house. You need to open 3 ports on your router at your house, or VPN into your home network. Your office network needs to allow this access as well.

Nice, but too limited on radios.

and zero information how to connect?
@FEPLabsRadio
@FEPLabsRadio 2 года назад
At 00:35 seconds - I mention that it connects over the network. It only works on the three icom radios that have network connectivity. 70, 7610, and 9700.

So where do in get this S/W for my 9700 and 7300? And then how do I get it onto my iPad? Thanks 73 Tom KC3QAC
@FEPLabsRadio
@FEPLabsRadio 8 месяцев назад
It is downloaded from the App Store. The 9700 has to be on a network connection (same as your iPad), the 7300 will have to be connected to a Mac computer, as it doesn't have network. It uses the computer as an intermediary. USB to the 7300, network from the computer.

If you already have RS-BA1 server running with a IC-7300, will this software connect to it?
@FEPLabsRadio
@FEPLabsRadio Год назад
It completely replaces RS-BA1. Works and looks much better. I own both, and I've uninstalled RS-BA1 and thrown it in a drawer.

David, this software only works with IC-705, IC-9700, IC-7610(over network), and recently IC-7300 (via USB only).

The current version of Icom Rig Control works with Works with your Icom IC-705, (via WiFi or USB), IC-7610, IC-9700 and IC-R8600, (via LAN cable or USB) and separately now supports the IC-7300 via USB.

Good review. Is there any difference between the iPad and Mac software? Thanks

Not that I've noticed. Of course, it lays out differently and other than that, same functions.

Thanks for the video on SDR control for the Icom radios. I have an Icom IC-7610 connected to a Windows 10 desktop computer via the USB cable. The HF station is located in Minnesota. I use RealVNC Connect remote control to connect to the Windows 10 computer in Minnesota with my MacBook in Florida. I use Windows computer in Florida to connect with the Icom IC-7610 server using the RS-BA1 second edition software, to hear the IC-7610 audio in Florida. I have also used Ham Radio Deluxe on the Windows 10 computer in Minnesota, but I don’t care very much for the HRD Rig control graphics design. I usually run Win4Icom on the Windows 10 computer in Minnesota for the IC-7610 rig control. The SDR Control program sounds like a better way to remote control the IC-7610 in Minnesota using my MacBook Pro in Florida. I’ve never attempted to transmit SSB audio using my current setup. Have you transmitted SSB with a microphone connected to your MacBook computer? How can the call signs appear on the waterfall display? Is this just for FT-8 digital signals? I’m not sure how the waterfall could determine the call signs of SSB stations. Do you know if SDR control would work with PSK-31? I use HRD when I want to use PSK-31. Dave KY0L

Hey Dave, thanks for watching! I've used the program for SSB xmit/recieve, and it works as well as whatever mic you have hooked up. I'd strongly suggest at least a USB dynamic mic - something better than the onboard laptop mic. I have a cheap USB one here at my office I've used before, and it's fine. I use SDR control over the internet to FT8 remotely all the time. I have my firewall allowing traffic from my office only, in to drive the radio that way. I too have used remotepc and HRD to remote control a windows box from the office, and that works fine. I think this is a better option, as it removes one layer of complexity from that operation. It does do PSK, a variety of flavors.

do you need a static IP address to remote it
@FEPLabsRadio
@FEPLabsRadio 2 года назад
Hey Scott! No, you don't need one for it to work - but - you need to know what DHCP address it pulls. Most routers will set DHCP lease times long enough that your gear essentially gets a static address. If you're using a 9700 or a 7610, you're going to be on wired, I would do static anyway. With a 705, it uses wifi, and if you're going to wifi from somewhere that is not your QTH, you probably want to leave it DHCP

Say more about the S/W you got for your ic-7300. Thanks 73 Tom KC3QAC

I don't have a 7300, and originally, SDR-Control didn't work with the 7300. It requires an Apple computer connected via USB to the 7300. (Since the 7300 doesn't have a network connection)
