My favorite ICON FJ so far! Tons of trick details, including dual A/C, and a full custom steel hard top and doors set up! More info at icon4x4.com Instagram & FB -ICON4x4
They made and sold FJ44 just like these in South America. You need to do your research better. You spent a ton of work building this from scratch when you could have sourced the roof and doors from South America.
Every time I buy a new wrangler I call Toyota and tell the I bought a wrangler because they won’t build a FJ40. Now I want them to build a FJ44. I encourage everyone that buys a wrangler to let Toyota know you bought a wrangler because they won’t build a FJ40
G-Wagen killer! This Icon inspired rig is every little boy's ultimate dream. Definitely to be placed in one's list of car collections. It has the marrying of old school and new tech. Such a pleasure to have.
My God ... this is my dream build, Toyota FJ 40 4 doors. Looks good n the quality of the build - as usual - just awesome. Good job Mr. Ward, hope someday i can bring it home with u signature.
@@ICON4x4Design there is always one nay sayer in the midst of a thousand Ayes. It's a glorious piece of art and engineering, respecting the past with eye to practical future. If I only had the $$. Well done sir.
Lol I saw the Tesla Cybertruck and lost faith in humanity but then I saw this video. All is good with the world. This is my dream car, I've said that about several of your builds.
I am literally almost 3min in on this episode. I call them episodes not posts or videos because of how you dissect the rigs you and your team builds. Back to 1st statement, 1st 3min in felt compelled to say thank you. Not just for starting a channel, but for nerding out the projects on it. 1st seen you on hoonagain with the rolls badass build by the way. Then think i seen you again with a personal build witch was aslo badass maybe a wagon. Just had to let you guys know i love the builds, enjoy how the attention to detail is impeccable. Your team clearly leaves no fastener, knob, or comfort feature overlooked. More builder's should take note, your company clearly sets the standard for perfection.
You’re totally right about Toyota doing better remaking the land cruiser with this body shape as inspiration. Im a toyota man stuck in a jeep wrangler because I cant afford to hire someone like you to fix an old land cruiser 😭
If the redesigned Prado would come close to aesthetically replicating JW’s creation, Toyota could not make enough of them. A complete differentiation product compared to the 4Runner and LX600. With Ineos coming on line with the retro Defender, and the Jeep Gladiator/Bronco, there is an obvious market for true utility SUV’s. Give me Toyota’s quality over a Big 3 or an unproven Brit anyday. And put the UZFE 4.7 with the pre-22 Tundra 6 speed auto in it.
Beside the design this has nothing to do with a Toyota Land Cruiser. It's a typical us american resto mod replica. Is there any original part on it? Aluminium body? LS3? LED headlights? Dynatracs? Fox shocks? Come on, as a real Land Cruiser fan, how could you like this?
very nice and good build....my favorite all time vehicle Toyota Land Cruiser. just a question, why didn't you use a Toyota engine from a Tacoma or a Tundra?
Bandeirante's pick up doors didn't fit? Great design. But I allways asked myself Why you didn't had a dust cover for the disk brakes? Also, When you gonna change those uglies ARB buttons, and maybe those ugly heated seats controls for something of yours design? Like how you do the rear AC controls, but like better the front milled buttons that you use.
The reason why Toyota manufacturer wants to discontinue theirs icons Landcruiser lc 200 is few things many of theirs dealerships and dealers doesn't give many honestly customers and consumers appreciation , also they'll behave as every customers or consumers are multimillionaires, so when a customer or customers visit theirs place to purchase a Landcruiser lc 70, Landcruiser lc 200, the prices they hear is so embarrassed, look at what Nissan did to their Nissan patrol vehicles, Toyota manufacturer should learn from Nissan and not Toyota dealership and dealers insulting their loyal customers.
Love this look and build! Wish were a production version that was basic / more affordable for us rank n file, and in a I-6 diesel or even V-8 diesel. Love the Dana axles- my dad used to work for Dana.
i just really need this cruiser. my 78' was badass but this is awesomeness on 4 wheels. just so i can add more to my savings for my retirement cruiser, how much is this? no, seriously, how much approx is it?
Never met an ICON build I didn't like. Clearly the best FJ yet. Of all the builds, though that Hudson, Jonathan's own Desoto and the 65 Ford F pickup really stand out for me. But I recognize, it is all personal taste. Like I said at the beginning, never met an ICON I didn't like.
Why i love your icon? You take so much hour and labour to resurrect FJ40 with outstanding quality. Why i don't consider buying your product (if i can afford it)? it lose it soul with too many modification, only the ladder frame and the outter looks left untouch (cmiiw). I can accept : - swap engine = more reliable - suspension = more comfort, and still enable 4x4 if done right. - audio (although i think u might not able to enjoy the music due to wind sound entering from every possible holes and un-aerodynamic body) - 4 doors = modificating something to more usefull and stylish - better departure angle at rear end compared to HJ45 troopy I can not accept : - changing the dashboard looks and parts that works exactly the same (why??? Why dont u put modern dashboard then - sarcastic) - seating : it already lose half the feeling of riding an old car (why not buy a new car? LC80,100,200??), why don't u hv a brabus/maybach style on a G-wagon instead if u decide to modified it? (Truly asking - not sarcastic) BUT, with your success, my comment is just a cheap opinion and i congratulate you for your capability to capture the needs of the market.
I forgot one more thing. Why should u swap to dyna? When the original axle are outstanding in quality on and off road? Maybe, i didn't pay attention carefully. if u install modern electric lockers, it might be acceptable.
true but if you're rich enough to afford one then you can buy one then engine swap it (i'm not sure but i do think they did talk to Toyota but Toyota didn't have the extra amt of new engines to sell them so they went with GM.. all of Toyotas engines are for production cars, not that many replacements around)
@@dunhillsupramk3 Still, drop something like the a 1GZ-FE into it. I doubt many people would care if you used a "refreshed" V12 under the hood. I know I wouldn't, as long as both parties knew what was going into it.
Love LOVE this truck.. I also have been waiting for a hardtop. WOW.. You REALLY knocked this one Out of the Park... Also.. Your clients RULE.. So.. glad you have the ones with pockets deep enough to let you do what you do best.. HUGE Win..
Watching how successful Jeep has been with the Wrangler and Rubicon I have been praying Toyota would build an old school FJ 40 four door just as you have. TOYOTA Please do this!!!!!
I have a BJ Troopy and it sways side to side after 80km/h on the highway. The non hard top version you have doesn't fare very well either stability wise and is easy to topple over. So what's the point of such a powerful engine when the handling cant be improved?
Toyota needs new vehicles in the states like this, but keep them affordable...aka well under $50k They would out-sell jeeps as long as they are affordable and reliable 👍🏻
I just saw a video of the cybertruck and now RU-vid recommended this video. I can appreciate both but Tesla is making me think of cars and the future in a whole new l way. Plus Tesla’s are cheaper than vintage cars.
A very very beautiful job done on this vehicle and that color happens to be my favorite very popular in the early 50s in the utility Market which is now making its way back
that reinforcement cage in the inside is a killer ...want to do something similar under my Tundras fibreglass canopy to safely support the platform and tent
Always love watching your creations! Noted the emphasis on safety in this one....after the media hype of the Kevin Hart wreck, sadly I am sure you have had a good bit of talking with your attorney
