as a non-english native speaker i must say: finding this again after i learned english fluently and reading the lyrics hit differently

There isn't a single icon for hire song that doesn't have seriously insightful and thought provoking lyrics, these guys don't get nearly enough attention for their art

haters can say all they want but Ariel is a lyrical genius

A lot of people dont get that this song is about surrounding yourself with those who will help you out of your depression together rather than not move foward at all and instead always talk about how bad it all is but not do anything to change. This happened to me and though you love them, its like theres none of them left to love. It proves to be very toxic and theyre great people, but i much prefer to hang out with a crowd that doesnt drag me down with them.

Coming back to this after battling depression just makes me feel so happy. This is like a victory song

I've had a terrible habit of being in and out of psych wards. It was always the same. I go in claiming to need help, I leave claiming that I feel better, I get out patient help, take my meds for a while, then at some point I start forgetting to take them, everything goes to shit and I end up back in the hospital. For me, this song is like me speaking to myself. I truly meant it when I said that I want to get better. The last time I left the hospital, I told this really nice nurse that the only way I would step foot on this ward again would either be in handcuffs or nurse scrubs. Thanks to this song, I have made true on that promise. It's been almost two years since I was last hospitalized. Thank you, Icon For Hire!

My best friend sent me this song years ago. I don't know if he just liked it or if the meaning hit him as deeply as it hit me when I first heard it. I've struggled with mental health my whole life - and I'm finally seriously getting better and seeing differences. It's not easy. Breaking the cycles is difficult, but worth it. I just confronted a family member who has narcissistic traits and stood up for myself. This is a major step for me, as I've always had confidence issues and severe anxiety. I advised her to get help and I truly hope she does. She says she will. I thought of this song and had to come listen to it. Anyone who needs to see this: It is possible. Life can get better. Finally a band that has songs that my borderline personality/ptsd/depressed self can relate to

I have to say that your music helped me through hard times when I was in and out of the hospital trying to cope with my mental illness. I have bipolar manic depression, ADD and senithasia which allows me to see colors whenever I hear music which is somewhat distracting when I'm trying to work. I'm great ful to know that there is someone out there that knows exactly what it's like to go through life dealing with internal conflict that no one else can understand. Thank you icon for hire for putting into words what I couldn't express.

Hey Ariel, you may not remember me, but when I was struggling with sh and sui under one of your videos 3 years ago, you asked me to stop. And comforted me. I escaped my abusers, was homeless for 18 months, found God through the kindness of others, started going to church, got clean and sober, went to NA meetings, got off the street, and I can say from the bottom of my heart, that I am happy now. It helped me realize making myself miserable on purpose even when I didn’t have to and hurting myself repeatedly would only get myself deeper into a hole that would only end with me in a grave. I come back to listen to their music sometimes just to remind myself where I should be and that I shouldn’t let myself ever get that bad again. I hope everyone realizes there’s always hope and despite how fuckin horrible it can get, there’s something waiting for you in the future. Why not live to see it?

Very interesting lyrics, i suffered from hard stuff and i think this speaks about depression and mental ilness and the feeling people get about not getting fun and being good with others hapiness as they view them as happier than themselfes, but you just wanna get well and be like the others and not being down , the line " it's only a game you lost me, i quit it with the suicidal recital" is like fuck this and i quit with these bad feelings, and lets overcome it.
