We were on the preview cruise. You're absolutely correct - this is Wonder of the Seas with a few mods. Lost the Viking Crown, Solarium, and surprised they killed the worst restaurant in the world, The Mason Jar. Agree about Boleros! I've been on four Oasis-class ships and no one is ever at that place!!

Great review and tour! There is no way we are going to spend that much money, but once it comes down to $4K or so we will consider! XL Class for carnival may be smaller but Icon is not worth an extra $4-5K for a 7 dayer!

Absolutely hysterical commentary! 😂😂😂. I’m sure my wife and I will watch this more than once! We booked back in Dec. ‘22 while on a cruise at Next Cruise and I asked for the least expensive week with guaranteed ocean view balcony that stops at St.Kitts, since we haven’t been there, and we got November 2 for about $1,300 PP ++. I’m certain the ship will be 100% occupancy and the casino will be very ripe with smoke odor by then. With so much time before our cruise, it’ll allow them plenty of time to figure out how to get rid of Death Star and maybe they can find a forever home for the stray dog. 😂

I think this is the first review I’ve seen that was actually honest. Aside from borrowing heavily from the Oasis class, I was also struck by how much the Icon borrowed from Celebrity’s Edge class ships, including the infinite veranda rooms. Edge class ships are still my favorites (and they have the advantage of having a lot fewer kids).

I heard they adjusted the quality of food after the first few sailings after the press and "influencers" left. Did you know hotels, restaurants, and cruise ships can order different qualities of food from their suppliers? Know a guy who works for Sysco, and they have three tiers covering different market needs: Sysco Essentials, Sysco Classic and Sysco Premium. Sysco Essentials offers an alternative to economy brands, often with less quality meats and canned goods. Think Dollar Store brands. Sysco Classic is the more popular middle tier with products similar to more established brands like Heinz and Campbells. Sysco Premium offers “superior products” sourced from around the world. Guessing they started with something like Premium, then downgraded to a Classic or Essentials level. Typical in the industry.
