It was time to get a new shop seat. Sitting on the old plastic chair wasn’t cutting it anymore. Getting older sucks 😂. Hopefully the new shop seat works out well.
Definitely an upgrade to the old school type of chair. I have not seen the model over here in Europe, but of course I have not looked for similar models. Cheers.
Since I sit one the edge (and it’s so short front to back) my pants will catch all the hot sparks before the seat will. I do have a old welding coat that will work if I start melting it. Hot plastic on the nuts could be bad 😮.
Great question. 5 wheels are definitely better than 4. If you sit in the chair as designed it doesn’t tip. If you sit in the corner edge of the seat it can get a little tippy. If the vevor version has 5 it’s probably more stable.
I am used to using a hard plastic chair with no give, so it’s definitely a upgrade for me 😅. I tried their other seats and didn’t like them. Did you find a seat you liked better? Around here I couldn’t find many options.
Ahh makes sense, I just prefer a softer cushion but come later down the road if they’re holding up in the shops for people and have good reviews I’ll have to go pick one up! We have an identical Snap-on one at our shop and I mean it’s a little softer but not enough to justify the price difference between the two lol
The seat is PVC or plastic. Pretty thick/durable, it’s sort of between a ridged hard plastic and a normal seat cushion. It has foam as a cushion, so it has some give. I think they went with the pvc because you can wipe filth off it easy, with not a lot of things actually penetrating into it. It’s way thicker than like a truck seat pleather, so I hope to turns out to be as durable as it looks. 😀
Yeah I don’t like spending money that I don’t have to. Dewalt has a seat that everyone sells here that is 40$ more and not comfortable at all. Out of all the harbor freight seats the icon one fits me the best. Definitely try before you buy.
@@makingmistakeswithgreg I just got back. Bought the green one. Then i flipped the cheaper round seated one over and tack welded it back together. I'll keep the ICON though. I spend a lot of time sitting and this one is definitely better.
Awesome. You can put a price on hip and back pain. Mine has been a lot better since I have been using the icon one. And it almost catapults me up when I stand up 😅 which helps the knees lol.
It’s still a solid seat, 2 things worth mentioning. It has a hard bar near the edge of the seat that over time (hours) becomes irritating. Its wheels (having only 4) makes it less stable than if it had 5. I still use it often however I feel the dewalt shop seat (and many clones) are a bit more comfortable and stable.
