When I moved to Utrecht for my studies in the 1980's, broodje Mario already was very big. Although it only was comprised of a street stand and a bakery in the cellar on the lower canal level. I remember the bakers with large trays of freshly baked broodjes climbing the stairs to street level. I passed it daily on my way to the university and so, so many times I couldn't resist. Many have tried to copy Mario's success, but none have succeeded. The magic is in the bread, so crispy, fluffy and tasteful. Not to say that other sandwich shops are bad, on the contrary, but in my mind Mario's is the absolute top. Living in the south now and still craving for a broodje Mario. But whenever I'm back in Utrecht ...

Beautiful City Oliebollen looks really good :) I love not so greasy foods. My body cant handle it though lots of food tastes good .. I would pick up every week :) Sandwiches , Pizza oh yess looks delish and even some Surinamese food yum! Chicken Sauté me and peanut sauce are tight man lol Love it! Ole ball seems simple, but I'm sure it's delicious so it's not eliminated! I also believe it would be delicious with hot chocolate! (Don’t worry, I’ll be willing to buy that Ole ball you made, haha!) Mario's sandwiches are very similar to those sold at Subway, just in different shapes! But the ingredients inside are more diverse and fresher, I like it! The vending machines in the Netherlands are amazing, it’s a paradise for snacks, every item is attractive! I didn’t expect that the Netherlands also has homemade sausages, which are actually curved. I wonder if they are better than those in Germany? So my next question is, is the beer in the Netherlands better than the beer in Belgium? Hope my question isn't too difficult to answer, haha! Watching that you love hot sauce so much, I sincerely suggest you open your own hot sauce company and sell spicy peanut butter also! (Because I want to invest, haha!) Fun fact about Febo. The name is an abbreviation of Ferdinand Bolstraat. The street in Amsterdam where the first location was, and still is actually. Ferdinand Bol himself was a classic Dutch painter from the 17th century so it has obviously nothing to do with him personally.

I grew up in Utrecht and went to university there. The Netherlands have internationally renowned universities, but only three are ivy league since the 16th and 17th century : Leiden, Groningen and Utrecht. Surinam and Indonesian food shops are da bomb! Glad none of them close to where I live, I'd gorge on it every day. 39:17 is just paradise, resistance is futile!

We do not only have saltfish in bake in the Caribbean, that is just one way. We have saltfish stew with provisions which is really good, with breadfruit ,with Coucou, with rice. It is done in many ways. We have saltfish pie, saltfish pattie , saltfish dumplings.

Welcome to my hometown. Great start with Broodje Mario, an iconic sandwich shop and arguably the best in Utrecht (funny how you show a small advertisement board of his biggest competitor Broodje Ben) 4:03 you can't correct someone if he is right. Paul Verhoeven indeed directed Starship Troopers. Oliebollen (Not Olieballen, meaning oil spheres): Good place to get them. I don't know if they are the best but they are definitely not the worst. For me, a good Oliebol is either natural or with raisins and currants. I don't need those new "Nutella" and "Oreo" concoctions. I do like the Berlinerbol (not Bellina) it is named after Berlin, the German city as it was invented by a baker from Berlin, named Berliner in Germany EXCEPT in Berlin where they are called Pfannkuchen. An Oliebol is bessed when it is KISS (Keep It Simple Stupid) And yes, she is correct, if you see traditional Dutch snacks like Oliebollen or Stroopwafels with "dress up", it is for (mainly American) tourists. "I love the architecture of this city": Shut up Mava, don't get started, this is a food video, not a cultural video...... Need.... To....History......AARGH . I managed to restrain myself from telling you the entire history of Utrecht...... pfew 15:44 (insert gull meme) Mine.....mine....mine....mine You can't go wrong with a Broodje Mario. You actually should have visited Febo in Amsterdam, that is where it originates from. Febo stands for Ferdinand Bol(straat), the location where the original first Febo was planned to start (but never actually did). There is however a location there nowadays. So you could have gotten Febo on the Febo. Febo is the quick fix for the munchies, the fastfood of fastfood. No waiting required. And Melissa... Hema Rookworst is just Unox rookworst. It is not even a secret and confirmed by Unilever/Unox. And yes, they are the most iconic of the smoked sausages but that is mainly because of the "on the go" nature of the Hema Rookworst. Be careful with that drone, there are actually some no fly zones in Utrecht.

too bad you havent tried real traditional dutch dinner food, for example super fresh from the land potatoes cooked and baked with some nice gravy, with asparagus on the side also fresh from the farmer's land in butter sauce and wrapped in ham and either a little steak or a piece of chicken next to it. Now this would be 100% dutch with no foreign influence.
