ICP has many songs with a similar message, make it to Shangri-La (Heaven), Let's Go All The Way being a definite one. "Can you guess what this place is, your future, make it a reality" You have the ability to determine where you go in the after life. Pass Me By is my favorite ICP song, it's the song I first really paid attention to, my sister listened to them for years before I ever did, it has a similar message to this song that I won't spoil in case you decide to film a reaction. It's awesome to see you very open minded about the Juggalo community. Much Clown Love
The punch line is shangri la. Heaven, summer land, valhalla, the land of milk and honey. I'm gonna break the whole thing down for you. This story starts with little Violent J. Him and his brother Jump steady, found a butterfly when they were kids growing up in the ghetto of Detroit. Not knowing any better, J put it in a jar. Not knowing to put air holes, the butterfly died. J was so torn up about this, he decided to the best person he could so that he could get into heaven in order to make amends with the Butterfly. Everything ICP does is dedicated to The Butterfly. Struggling with average religion, as many of us do. J created the dark carnival to help people relate more to God and being a good person. Shangri La is the end goal, Lets go all the way was born of this lore.
I remember when this video was coming out and they were trying to get it shown on MTV during one of their request blocks. Based on the number of calls and online voting, the higher ones would get to be shown. Back then there wasn't really any social media, not like today, mainly websites and forums. But this is probably the first time I saw a group use the internet to use it as a mass push for something. They posted up on their website, to ask all the Juggalos to call in and vote on a specific day... a big focused push. Even phone operators at MTV were like, "There's no way this isn't the number 1 for today." But then it wouldn't get shown somehow. I think we tried it a few more days before someone leaked out that MTV was basically changing the rules for voting and then ignoring ICP votes for the most part.
This is basically the most positive song they ever did at the time (year 2000). It really hit on the emphasis of making society into a vision of total unity. They say in other visions that this is the Carnival they talk about. This is an earthly Carnival or utopia.
Thanks for reacting to this video. Its awesome that u have an interest in our community and the culture. Yes this song is about a place where every body can get along, and its also about shangri-la which is heaven to Juggalos. I agree with @dcfaygoguy whoop whoop homie mcl for what u do as well; Pass Me By is another song that has a similar message and also another really good song one of my favorites. U should deff check it out, if u liked this u will like that song too.
I love your personality and excited, open mind! You seem to be a great Mommy also! Thanks for giving ICP so many reaction videos and a fair shot! Whoop whoop! Mmfcl!
I happened to meet Violent J & Shaggy, Twiztid and Blaze Ya Dead Homie one time. They were super nice, sweet and polite guys. I was very impressed. They love their mommas and went out of their way to be awesome to my 11 year old son (at the time, he’s 29 now).
The Bizaar/Bizzar albums were awesome w/ some of the most bad-ass clown tunes in their library as well as an AWESOME live tour in which @ the end they invited juggalo's 2 invade the stage & disappeared into the crowd to end the show. Ive been to hundreds of concerts in My life & never seen any band of any kind do tht. This Sly Fox cover was promoted as the albums hit single & made it to mainstream charts. Ive seen u react to a lot of ICP albums but they were well known for having a shitload of rather interesting B-sides w/ tunes no other rap or rock band has ever done. These guys were the kings of funny & odd wikkid skits w/ other artists on their label them like Twiztid, Blaze etc & a lot of their B-sides & concert-only promos were killer. Its a huge reason why I was alwayz down from day one. NO ONE rapped about wht they rapped about & the having lived thru the original gangsta rap movement in the 80s early 90s & not thinking much of the new generation of rap these guys & some of their underground horrorcore cohorts brought the genre back 2 life 4 Me & a lot of other ninjaz. Like a weird & awesome horror comic (which they have) come to life. Check out some of the B-side stuff like Superstar, Dirt Ball, The Great Show, Jacob's Ladder. I could go on...
This song was off of one of the 2 albums they came out with titled "bizzar" & "bizaar". This song is originally a song by KC and the Sunshine band, almost same lyrics. I went to the tour of these albums twice and they were great shows. Seen icp 17 times, in 5 states and 3 gathering of the juggalos. Checkout bowling balls. There is a music video and a short movie for the video
It was a march to remove the gang label from people whovdont do anything wrong they just love what juggalo stands for and its this vrry label juggalos get targeted by gangs who set out to do harm
I'm gonna suggest to you my personal favorite of the whole 'juggalo family'... i havent seen much love for him in your suggests in the comments yet. ABK - To Whom It May Concern. But damn you are taking me baaaack with these icp videos lol. I remember when they used to air this on MTV, but they wouldnt do it until after midnight.(and before youtube, music videos on mtv mattered lmao)
I haven't seen anybody say this in the comments yet so I just want to let you know that this song is actually a cover of the 80's New Wave-ish band, Sly Fox. ICP are huge fans of 80's music and culture so they covered this song and put their own twist on it. It was the only ICP video to ever be played on MTV.
The song has a dual meaning. You are correct about it being in reference to creating a community where everyone is welcome. But the song also is talking about living a life that gets you into Shangri La. Heaven by Juggalo standards. Listen to Thy Unveiling it will make sense.
First comment, your right that's is a place there talking about, yes there is RU-vid footage with a guy called childsplayninja, if you want to know more about the March on DC just message me and I'll hit back, also react to ICP Homies unedited. PEACE
Man I remember waiting to see this music video on "the box" which was a music video station that I had to go to some chicks house who is a grafe older than me (8th grade I was in 7th, pimpin) and we had to mess with her rabbit ears just to get it to come in scrambled lol Good times.
what you said is pretty much on point what the video is about. It's like no matter what race, color, religion, rich, poor, life, gang, non gang if you're a Juggalo you're a Juggalo and we are all family and by working together we can join together to stop hatred among the world and we can all be together in Shangri-La/Heaven. But now days there is alot of bad apples in the Juggalo family that do stupid stuff and crimes and when they get caught they say stupid shit like "woo woo I'm a Juggalo" and the cops see the hatchet man merch they are wearing and because of those few bad apples in the Juggalo family the FBI has labeled all Juggalos as a gang. That's why the Juggalos did a a March on Washington to protest against the FBI and government to show we aren't a gang.
so im one of the people who appreciates the juggalo love you have and being cool as can be viewing it from a diffrent perspective i suggest a react video to Eric stanley love the way you lie or b.o.b airplanes cover it wont disappoint
I think it is great you have been so open to the horrorcore muzik not many can be but I think it would be awesome if you reacted to The Naughty List by KidCrusher or Nasty by Lo Key
My Shangri-La is the "star trek future" where we have evolved beyond greed and war, where everyone is taken care of equally and there is no hate and we are free to pursue things that benefit mankind as a whole, where we can be creative...because I am an Atheist I dont see these things in their music as referring to an afterlife...go check out The Venus Project !
Here’s the Speech ICP made at the March. I think it’s over 30mins long. It’s all good - but you can skip ahead to 25:17min part that’s the finally. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-PFpizQXIdvM.html
Most Juggalos are even them themselves ICP maybe not realize that that was a very libertarian message let us do what we want to do as long as we're not hurting others and don't need government getting in our way telling us what to do making things worse
